Role Description The Sales Engineer role is a full-time remote position responsible for supporting customers and driving business growth through technical and commercial expertise. Day-to-day activities include identifying customer needs, promoting appropriate automation solutions, and preparing technical proposals and quotations. The Sales Engineer will conduct virtual customer meetings and product demonstrations, collaborate with engineering and support teams to resolve technical inquiries, and provide ongoing technical guidance throughout the sales cycle. The role also involves maintaining accurate records in CRM systems, monitoring market trends and competitor activity, and contributing to sales strategies and product feedback to enhance SMC’s offerings.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Sales Engineering and Technical Support skills to understand customer applications and recommend suitable automation solutions.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication and Customer Service skills to build relationships, manage expectations, and provide clear, professional support.
  • Candidates should possess solid Sales skills to develop opportunities, negotiate terms, and achieve sales targets in a remote environment.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with pneumatic and/or electric automation technologies and the ability to interpret technical documentation and drawings.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma in engineering, mechatronics, industrial automation, or a related technical field are beneficial.
  • Experience in B2B industrial or manufacturing environments, proficiency with CRM and standard office software, and a valid work authorization for Ireland are advantageous.
