Job Description:

The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, we are advancing the world's energy system to be more sustainable, flexible, and secure. Our Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service business is a global leader in delivering grid connection and power quality solutions that enable the energy transition across utilities, renewables, industry, transportation, data centers, and infrastructure sectors.

As part of our continued growth in Europe, we are looking for an experienced Sales Lead Large Projects to join our Hub Europe Sales & Marketing team. This is a unique opportunity to drive and secure some of the largest and most strategic projects within the energy sector, with a particular focus on offshore wind and renewable energy projects.

In this highly visible role, you will build long-term strategic partnerships with key customers, understand their business drivers and return-on-investment expectations, and develop winning solutions that create value for both the customer and Hitachi Energy. You will collaborate across countries and functions, leading complex opportunity capture strategies and positioning Hitachi Energy for long-term success in a rapidly evolving market.

The position can be based in various Hitachi Energy locations across Europe and reports to the Head of Marketing & Sales, Hub Europe.

How you'll make an impact

  • Drive sales and business development activities for strategic large-scale projects across Europe, with a strong focus on offshore wind, renewable energy, utility, and industrial customers.
  • Develop and execute customer-specific capture strategies to secure major project opportunities valued between USD 200M and USD 400M+.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders and decision-makers at key accounts, acting as a strategic partner rather than a transactional salesperson.
  • Understand customer investment strategies, business priorities, and ROI expectations to create compelling value propositions.
  • Lead cross-functional capture teams across Europe, bringing together sales, tendering, engineering, operations, and supply chain experts.
  • Collaborate closely with local operating units, business units, and segment leaders to position Hitachi Energy as the partner of choice.
  • Drive the negotiation and implementation of strategic agreements, including framework agreements and long-term partnership models.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and emerging trends within the renewable energy and offshore sectors.
  • Ensure opportunities are developed in line with company strategy while managing commercial, technical, and execution risks.
  • Act as an ambassador for Hitachi Energy's values of safety, integrity, collaboration, and customer focus.

Your background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Sales, Marketing & Sales, Business Development, or Strategic Account Management within the energy, electrical, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and winning large, complex, multi-country opportunities in multinational environments.
  • Experience working with strategic customers, developers, utilities, or EPCs within the renewable energy market.
  • Knowledge of offshore wind projects and the broader energy transition landscape is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with major customers or similar organizations is considered a strong advantage.
  • Experience with competitors or leading companies within the electrical and power industry is highly valued.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand customer business cases, investment criteria, and ROI drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to build long-term partnerships and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to put yourself in the customer's shoes and translate their challenges into successful business solutions.
  • Experience operating in multicultural, international organizations.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Fluent English is required; additional European languages are considered a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Europe.
