BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a skilled and experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer (AWS). This position supports our client's federal civilian cloud programs, where teams migrate mission applications from on-premise environments to AWS, automate infrastructure and delivery pipelines, and keep production systems secure, observable, and aligned with federal security controls such as NIST. The work spans infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipeline automation, containerization, observability, and cloud networking and operations. The role is hybrid, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Our client is an IT solutions and services company based in Alpharetta, Georgia, founded in 2000 to build mission-critical systems that run around the clock. Its cloud experts design and build cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, with work spanning cloud strategy and architecture, cloud modernization and engineering, security and compliance, cloud DevOps, and data and analytics. Federal civilian agencies are a core part of that work, supported through a GSA Multiple Award Schedule contract, and the company is an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner.

What will you do

Build and run the AWS environments our client's federal customers depend on. You will write infrastructure as code, automate CI/CD pipelines, containerize applications as they move from monoliths to microservices, and put observability in place so issues are found and fixed quickly. You will work alongside solution architects, data engineers, and cybersecurity specialists, apply federal security controls in every environment you build, and report to the program's technical lead.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure as code with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation across development, test, and production environments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Harness) that automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment.
• Containerize applications and run them on Amazon EKS and ECS, supporting the move from monolithic applications to microservices.
• Implement observability, diagnostics, and reporting with Amazon CloudWatch and tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk; define alerts and dashboards for production services.
• Manage configuration with Ansible or equivalent tools, keeping environments consistent, documented, and traceable through change control.
• Operate cloud networking and access, including VPC design, IAM, security groups, and hybrid connectivity to agency networks.
• Automate security and vulnerability alerts and remediate findings in line with NIST SP 800-53 controls and agency Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
• Apply site reliability engineering practices: incident response, root cause analysis, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Support migrations from on-premise environments to AWS, including migration runbooks, cutover planning, and post-migration verification.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and inputs to system security plans.
• Identify automation candidates that reduce manual work and shorten deployment lead times.

Requirements:

• U.S. citizenship.
• Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination at the level required by the customer agency.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or systems engineering, including at least three (3) years building and operating production workloads on AWS.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or both.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and working in Git-based workflows.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; Amazon EKS preferred.
• Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration, networking, and identity and access management.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; an additional four (4) years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Able to use generative AI and automation tools to speed up coding, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Able to work onsite in Alpharetta, GA on a hybrid schedule and support limited travel to customer sites.

Desired Skills

• AWS certification: Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), DevOps Engineer Professional, or SysOps Administrator.
• Experience supporting federal civilian agencies, especially DHS or DOJ components.
• Experience with FedRAMP, FISMA, and agency ATO processes; familiarity with AWS GovCloud (US).
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud in addition to AWS.
• Experience with Harness or Upbound (Crossplane).
• A current Public Trust or favorably adjudicated background investigation from a federal civilian agency.
