Come Make an Impact on Millions of Brazilians!

At RecargaPay, we’re on a mission to deliver the best payment experience for Brazilian consumers and small businesses, by building a powerful digital ecosystem where the banked and unbanked connect, and where consumers and merchants have a one-stop shop for all their financial needs.

We serve over 10 million users and process more than USD 4 billion annually. We’ve been profitable since 2022 and operate our own credit business. We are an AI-first, 100% remote team, scaling in the rapidly changing Brazilian financial market.

Our goal? Deliver the best payment experience in Brazil for people and small businesses alike.

We value autonomy, ownership, and a bias for action. We’re looking for people who are curious, hands-on, and driven by impact, who want to solve real problems, work with strong teams, and rethink what’s possible.

If you’re ready to do your best work, at scale, with purpose, this is your place.

Responsibilities

As SAP ABAP Specialist (FI/CO), you will be the hands-on ABAP developer of RecargaPay’s SAP S/4HANA platform, with a strong background in Finance and Controlling and in Brazilian Localization. You own custom code end to end, from impact analysis and design to development, testing, and production support, and you bring enough FI/CO and fiscal process knowledge to understand what the business is asking for, read and implement SAP Notes for legal and tax changes with autonomy, and challenge a requirement when standard functionality already solves it.

This is a founding role in a small, senior squad. You will work directly with the SAP & Corporate Systems Tech Lead, who owns technical governance, integration architecture, and engineering standards, and with the squad’s Product Owner and functional partners, who own configuration and business stakeholder management. Your job is the code: keeping it small, clean, upgrade-ready, and aligned with how FI/CO and Brazilian fiscal processes actually run.

RecargaPay is a BACEN-regulated fintech running SAP S/4HANA with FI, CO, SD, and MM under Brazilian Localization. The immediate agenda is the S/4HANA release upgrade currently in progress with an implementation partner, followed by the adaptation of the platform to Reforma Tributária (CBS/IBS) via DRC. You will be hands-on in both, first on custom code remediation during the upgrade, then on the SAP Notes and developments that the fiscal and accounting changes require.

Basis and platform operations (SUM, kernel, HANA administration, backup and recovery) are delivered by a managed partner under the Tech Lead’s governance and are not part of this role. Functional configuration of FI/CO and localization is owned by functional specialists and partners; you are their technical counterpart, not their replacement.

You are expected to apply clean-core principles in daily development, favoring released APIs and extensibility options (in-app, developer, and side-by-side) over modifications, reducing the custom code footprint, and preparing the landscape for future upgrades and ABAP Cloud adoption where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain custom developments end to end on S/4HANA, including reports and programs, enhancements (BAdIs, enhancement spots, implicit enhancements), user exits and substitutions/validations in FI/CO, CDS views, AMDP, RAP-based services, OData services for Fiori applications, forms (Adobe Forms / Smart Forms), background jobs, data migration and correction programs, and interfaces (IDoc, RFC/BAPI, OData, REST via ABAP HTTP client, proxies).
  • Lead hands-on custom code activities for the S/4HANA release upgrade, including custom code impact analysis (ATC, Simplification Item checks, Custom Code Migration), SPDD/SPAU adjustments, remediation of obsolete or incompatible objects, cleanup of modifications and enhancements, technical regression support, cutover support, hypercare, and post-upgrade stabilization, in coordination with the Tech Lead, the implementation partner, and functional teams.
  • Provide hands-on ABAP development for regulatory and fiscal changes impacting Brazil, including Reforma Tributária (CBS/IBS via DRC), SAP Notes analysis and implementation with manual steps and code adjustments, localization extensions (tax determination, NF-e, NFS-e, DRC / Document and Reporting Compliance, SPED and related obligations), custom code impact analysis, and technical support to functional changes led by FI/CO, Tax, Product, and external partners.
  • Apply your FI/CO and localization background to translate business requirements into robust technical designs, assess technical feasibility, estimate effort, debug SAP standard code in finance and tax scenarios, and propose standard or extensibility-based alternatives to custom code where they exist.
  • Assess the current custom code landscape, identifying unused or duplicated objects, modifications to SAP standard, undocumented developments, performance hotspots, security exposures, clean-core violations, integration dependencies, technical debt, partner dependencies, and opportunities for simplification, refactoring, or automation.
  • Help define the SAP development operating model with the Tech Lead, including coding standards, naming conventions, code review practices, ATC baseline and check variants, ABAP Unit expectations, technical specification templates, definition of done, transport discipline, partner handoffs, and audit evidence practices for changes.
  • Own custom code quality through ATC and Code Inspector, ABAP Unit tests, peer code review, and performance analysis (SQL Monitor, ST05, SAT, runtime analysis), ensuring HANA-optimized code (code pushdown, efficient data access) and durable, maintainable solutions.
  • Follow the change management process through STMS and ChaRM / SAP Cloud ALM, ensuring traceability between requirements, technical specifications, transports, and test evidence, segregation of duties, emergency-change control, approval evidence, and safe promotion across DEV, QAS, and PRD.
  • Apply secure coding practices in partnership with Security and GRC stakeholders, including proper authorization checks in custom objects, Code Vulnerability Analyzer findings remediation, protection against SQL injection and directory traversal, secure handling of personal and sensitive data, logging and audit trail requirements, and evidence generation aligned with LGPD, BACEN, and SOX where applicable.
  • Develop and support the ABAP side of integrations between SAP and corporate systems, including SAP Integration Suite / CPI scenarios (proxies, OData and REST endpoints, IDoc and RFC interfaces), interface monitoring and error handling from the application perspective, and coordination with the Tech Lead, integration developers, or external partners for iflow changes.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex application-level incidents, including short dumps (ST22), failed background jobs, interface and runtime failures, performance degradation in custom code, authorization-related blockers in custom programs, posting and tax determination errors in custom logic, data inconsistencies, and upgrade defects, ensuring durable corrective actions and clear documentation.
  • Act as the internal ABAP counterpart for implementation partners and AMS providers, reviewing and challenging technical designs, code quality, enhancement approach, SAP Notes strategy, transport sequencing, test evidence, security implications, documentation, and production-readiness criteria.
  • Establish technical acceptance criteria for partner deliveries, including technical specifications, code review results, ATC compliance, unit and regression test evidence, rollback plans, performance validation, operational documentation, and handover quality.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, custom object inventories, technical specifications, developer guidelines, interface and job runbooks, known-error databases, and audit evidence repositories, ensuring readiness for internal, external, BACEN, LGPD, and SOX-related reviews.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly for code generation, code review, test generation, ATC finding remediation, SAP Notes analysis, log and dump analysis, documentation, and knowledge base creation, ensuring all outputs are reviewed and validated before use in production or audit-relevant contexts.
  • Solid hands-on ABAP development experience on S/4HANA, including enhancements, CDS views, OData, and debugging of SAP standard code, with a clear understanding of clean-core principles and extensibility options.
  • Several years developing for FI/CO and Brazilian Localization scenarios, with working knowledge of General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Asset Accounting, cost objects, period-end closing, tax determination, NF-e / NFS-e, DRC or its predecessors (NF-e/GRC, TDF), and SPED, sufficient to read functional requirements and SAP Notes with autonomy.
  • Experience implementing SAP Notes for fiscal and legal changes, including manual steps and code adjustments.
  • Experience with S/4HANA release upgrades or conversions, including SPDD/SPAU and custom code remediation.
  • Proficiency with ATC, Code Inspector, ABAP Unit, and performance analysis tools (SQL Monitor, ST05, SAT), and with HANA-optimized coding practices.
  • Familiarity with transport management and change control in a regulated environment (STMS, ChaRM or Cloud ALM, segregation of duties, audit evidence).
  • Ability to work directly with functional analysts, Accounting, Tax, and external partners, and to push back with standard-first or extensibility-first alternatives.
  • Fluent Portuguese or Spanish; the squad works across Brazil and Spanish-speaking LATAM, so candidates from either market are welcome. Working English for documentation and vendor interaction.

Nice to have: RAP and ABAP Cloud, Fiori development, SAP Integration Suite / CPI from the application side, exposure to Reforma Tributária (CBS/IBS) preparation, experience in fintech or another BACEN-regulated company, and experience acting as the internal counterpart to an AMS or implementation partner.

  • Competitive and market-aligned salary.
  • Remote work — wherever you are, you’re part of the team!
  • Home office allowance through a monthly deposit in the RecargaPay app.
  • Health and dental plans with no co-pay.
  • Life insurance.
  • Flexible meal allowance (via Flash).
  • TotalPass membership to take care of your health.
