SAP S/4HANA AVC / VC Specialist

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) & LO-VC Specialist on behalf of our international partner, a global leader in smart intralogistics solutions, digitalization, and tailored customer technologies.

In this strategic role, you will help shape the next generation of configuration capabilities inside the Engineering Center, working on highly configurable products where simplification, customization, and future-proof architecture create real business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Own the target architecture for transitioning from classic LO-VC to SAP S/4HANA AVC, defining migration principles, modeling decisions, and rollout standards.
• AVC Modeling: Design and implement enterprise-grade AVC models, creating scalable standards for characteristics, classes, dependencies, characteristic groups, constraints, and variant tables.
• Redesign & Optimization: Drive the redesign of legacy models toward table-driven, constraint-based AVC structures focused on performance, maintainability, and complexity reduction.
• End-to-End Integration: Ensure clean integration of configurable BOMs (Super BOMs), routings, and downstream business processes from order capture to production execution.
• Governance & Testing: Establish quality governance, simulation protocols, testing environments, and change control procedures across the model lifecycle.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on and architectural experience in SAP Variant Configuration, with a strong focus on SAP S/4HANA AVC.
• Proven track record in LO-VC to AVC transition programs or major redesigns of complex configuration landscapes.
• Deep expertise in characteristics, classes, object dependencies, constraints, procedures, variant tables, Super BOMs, and routing integration.
• Solid understanding of AVC runtime behavior, high-level vs. low-level configuration, and simulation/testing tools for large models.
• Experience defining modeling standards, governance principles, and reusable design patterns for large product portfolios.
• Ability to drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Product Data, Sales, Manufacturing, and IT.
• Background in complex configurable products in machinery, industrial equipment, or intralogistics is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English (German is a plus).
