SATCOM Engineering Support Services for NATO with security clearance SATCOM engineering support for NATO — UHF and SHF, link budgets, RF and antenna work — 75% off-site, 25% on-site in Belgium, with two option years beyond the base period. Three quarters of this SATCOM role is off-site. The quarter that is not is in Belgium, working on the satellite links the Alliance depends on. You will provide SATCOM engineering support across UHF and SHF — link budgets, RF and antenna work, architecture and project proposals — for an international defence organisation, alongside its operational commands. What you will be doing Engineering support across SATCOM systems in the UHF and SHF domains Link budget analysis, modulation and coding choices, and satellite network topology work RF and antenna engineering, including propagation modelling in SATCOM bands Applying SATCOM cybersecurity architecture principles, including encryption and secure communications design Building detailed technical project proposals aligned to operational requirements and interoperability standards Service management work — incident and problem handling — in an operational or control-centre setting What you will need A degree in telecommunications, electronics or SATCOM engineering with two years of related experience, or higher vocational training with five At least three years of practical SATCOM experience across UHF and SHF Deep knowledge of SATCOM architecture: link budgets, modulation schemes, error correction coding, network topologies Strong RF and antenna engineering, with propagation modelling in SATCOM frequency bands Familiarity with DVB-S2 and DVB-S2X, MIL-STD-188, and Software Defined Networking in SATCOM environments English at C1 Worth knowing before you apply The split is 25% on-site, 75% off-site — genuine flexibility, but the on-site quarter is not optional The current site near Brussels closes during 2027; performance moves to Brussels or Mons, so the role expects you to move with it Practical detail Contract engagement, base period starting no later than 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026, with two option years An active security clearance is required for this role Your CV may not be up to date — that is not a problem, send me whatever you have and I will come back to you either way.
