SCADA IT Engineer

Reporting to the SCADA Manager, the SCADA/Controls Engineer is responsible for the reliability, configuration and maintenance of the SCADA system and its related hardware and applications. This role will require travel to various locations and the incumbent will be expected to live within a reasonable travel time of one regional asset. The incumbent will support field staff using SCADA at various power plants in the PJM/ROC region of the US Hydro Operations by maintaining and upgrading existing equipment. Additionally, the SCADA Technician is expected to interface with other workgroups, including their counterparts at the Nation System Control Center to ensure system reliability and maintain uptime of the facilities.

Responsibilities

• The primary role is to manage upgrade projects, manage/create program changes for Industrial Control Systems, deploying patches, configuring and managing the associated servers and equipment to ensure compliance with NERC/FERC regulations.
• Support the development of SCADA software applications, consisting of creating or modifying graphical screens for real-time data, historical trends, alarm management, interfaces for set point entry and manual remote control.
• Perform system and database backups and provide user support for data retrieval and creating reports from those databases.
• Develop, maintain and validate data.
• Perform testing with NSCC personnel for commissioning of SCADA data points.
• Coordinate with remote assets, the NSCC, and regional Project Managers on major SCADA projects.
• Work with Operations/Assets teams to develop or update points lists in the PI database.
• Work with Operations/Assets to integrate new assets and field devices.
• Coordinate with the networking, systems and operations team to integrate new acquisitions into the control center.
• Manage security devices, such as cameras, key cards, motion sensors, and associated servers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience.
• Required to travel based on business need.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to view tasks logically, break them down into essential requirements, and generate a solution to meet goals.
• Experience with MS Office Suite, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Experience in managing and programming of various industrial control systems such as Allen Bradley, ABB, Siemens, etc.
• Experience in Industrial Control Systems.

Qualifications:

• Associates’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent experience or training will be considered.
• Experience in Industrial Networking is preferred.
• Experience in the power industry is preferred.
• Technical knowledge of SCADA system operations and related subsystems, networks, protocols, and regulations.
• Experience working with databases.
• Experience working in an Allen Bradley environment is preferred.
