The $80 million non-profit performing arts organization has three divisions: TMC Arts, TMC Ops and TMC Business Services. TMC Arts, The Music Center’s programming engine, provides year-round programming inside The Music Center’s four theatres—Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum—as well as on Jerry Moss Plaza, at Gloria Molina Grand Park, and in schools and neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County. TMC Ops manages the theatres, Jerry Moss Plaza and Gloria Molina Grand Park, which comprise $3 billion in county assets, on behalf of the County of Los Angeles. TMC Business Services includes Advancement, Human Resources, Finance, Tech Services, and Marketing and Communications.
The Music Center is also home to four renowned resident companies—Center Theatre Group, Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera and LA Phil.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Education, the School Programs Specialist will advise and support staff who manage arts integration partnerships and community residency programs. This position is also responsible for maintaining relationships with education and community stakeholders, including district leaders, principals, district arts coordinators, teachers, parents, teaching artists, and community-based organizations, to foster school- and district-wide arts programming, community residencies, and events.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and advise on arts integration partnerships and community residency programs, including multi-year school, district, and organizational partnerships throughout Los Angeles County.
- Determine educational goals in partnership with district, school, and community leadership, teachers, parents, and artists.
- Identify and actively recruit new teaching artists to join The Music Center, amplifying and diversifying arts education experiences for Los Angeles County students, educators, and communities.
- Work collaboratively with artists, schools, partners, and staff to plan and refine program content, curriculum, and logistics.
- Guide School Programs staff in selecting artists based on program objectives, budget, facilities, and availability.
- Represent Music Center Education programs within the educational and artistic community.
- Uphold the highest standards of excellence and professionalism in all work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10 years of experience designing and managing the successful implementation of school- and district-wide arts integration partnerships and community residencies.
- Knowledge of current arts education programming practices, with the ability to apply best practices to program design and implementation.
- Proven facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of staff and outside representatives from the educational and artistic community.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively while forming solid relationships.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
- Experience developing integrated curriculum outlines.
SALARY
This part-time, non-exempt position offers a competitive hourly range of $42.50 –$49.75.
SCHEDULE
This position is scheduled for approximately 30 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday during The Music Center’s business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours may be adjusted as necessary to accommodate special events and business needs, including occasional evenings and weekends. The Music Center currently operates under a hybrid work model, combining remote work with designated onsite team days. Onsite, in-person attendance is required to support live events. This work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs and the responsibilities of the position.
