Science Instructional Support Specialist (TX)

Summit K12 is seeking an experienced educator to join our Dynamic Science Professional Development Team as an Instructional Support Specialist . In this role, you will deliver high-quality, in-person and virtual professional development to teachers and school leaders implementing our science solutions. Ideal candidates bring a strong background in teaching, instructional coaching, or school leadership, along with deep expertise in 3-dimensional science instruction and evidence-based teaching practices. Your mission will be to equip educators with the tools and knowledge to foster student success through effective implementation of our programs. TERRITORY: Texas. Candidates must live in the state of Texas in the Houston area and must be willing to travel across the state. Key Responsibilities 1.Professional Development Delivery: Plan, organize, conduct, and facilitate online and on-site professional development learning on Summit K12 solutions. 2. Implementation Success Ensure Successful Implementations: Empower teachers and school leaders to effectively implement evidence-based practices aligned to our solution, thereby nurturing an environment conducive to student success. 3. Expertise in Solutions: Become an expert in our company's online science solution (Dynamic Science). 4. Data Utilization Leverage data dashboards to analyze and present key metrics that demonstrate the impact of the company’s educational solutions on student outcomes. Train leaders on how to effectively use data dashboards to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions. Continuously monitor and interpret dashboard data to provide actionable insights to both internal teams and district partners. 5. Organization and Flexibility: Exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to pivot easily in a high-demanding environment. 6. Expertise and Learning Commit to Continuous Learning: Commit to life-long learning and professional development, including staying up-to-date on evidence-based practices. 7. Support and Coaching: Facilitate LMS navigational support, demonstration lessons, individual coaching sessions, and leadership sessions (planning and support). 8. Adapt and Improve: Proactively seek out feedback and adapt practices based on feedback and what leads to improved student outcomes. 9. Collaboration Collaborate for Excellence: Collaborate with other team members, both within the PD team and across departments, to ensure that materials, methods, and professional learning meet the highest standards to achieve optimal results. 10. Promote Classroom Equity: Ensure classroom equity through tailored professional development sessions for teachers, coaches, and leaders. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Passionate about science instruction and helping students use phenomena to make connections to the world around them. Demonstrate an understanding of best practices in supporting multilingual learners. 5+ years Science teaching experience leading sustained coaching sessions and professional development for educators in K-12. Able to analyze data and use it to inform practice, and get results. Proficiency in providing support to educators through both online and onsite learning experiences. Demonstrate effectiveness in time management amidst competing priorities. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology-based productivity tools including Microsoft and Google Applications. Willingness to travel within designated areas. Travel is required and considered an essential function of the job. Travel includes overnight stays at hotels and transportation via car, plane, and/or public transportation. Driving in small and large cities is required. All travel-related expenses for professional development delivery are initially paid in advance by the Instructional Support Specialist (eg, lodging, daily meals). Reimbursements for these expenses - including mileage if driving your own car and compensation for time traveling - will be processed 2–3 weeks following submission of the expense reimbursement requests. ADVANCED QUALIFICATIONS: 10+ years of K–12 teaching and leadership experience, leading to demonstrable results for students. Master’s or Advanced degree in education. Collaborate with district and school leaders to develop and refine professional development plans. Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers. Proven knowledge of adult learning principles and experience applying them when delivering learning experiences to adults. High comfort with navigating ambiguity and responding confidently to in-the-moment challenges or concerns in order to meet customer needs.
