We are currently supporting a major South African retail group as they expand their operations and refine their internal management processes. To assist with this large scale effort, we are looking for a Scrum Master Internship candidate to join our team. This is a fully remote position designed for someone who wants to learn how agile principles help organizations move from complex planning to clear, daily execution.
About the Role
At Olive Tree Consulting, we help leaders bridge the gap between their strategy and the daily work their teams perform. In this role, you will help maintain the rhythm of an expanding retail project where coordination is essential. Growing companies often face friction when decisions are not recorded or priorities become blurred. You will act as a coordinator who keeps information flowing and ensures that team meetings result in clear next steps rather than just more discussion.
Because we operate in a fully remote environment, your ability to organize digital workspaces and document decisions is central to the project. You will work closely with our advisors to ensure the team stays focused on their current tasks while helping to identify anything that stands in the way of progress. This is a practical role focused on the mechanics of how a team moves forward together.
What You Will Do - Facilitate daily syncs to ensure everyone knows the priorities for the day and where they might need help.
- Maintain the project board by ensuring tasks are updated, categorized correctly, and reflect the current state of work.
- Draft clear, concise notes after planning sessions to record what was decided and who is responsible for each item.
- Help the team identify blockers or delays early so they can be addressed before they impact the schedule.
- Assist in organizing sprint planning and review sessions, helping to prepare the necessary documentation beforehand.
- Monitor the flow of work to help the team understand their own pace and where they can improve their habits.
- Support the adoption of simple, consistent documentation so that project history is easy for anyone to find.
- Help keep communication channels tidy and focused on the specific goals of the current work cycle.
What We Are Looking For - A high level of organization and the ability to keep track of many moving parts without losing focus.
- Clear, direct writing skills that prioritize brevity and accuracy over flowery language.
- A calm demeanor when things get busy or when plans need to change quickly.
- Curiosity about how teams work together and a desire to learn the practical side of project management.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to summarize a long conversation into a few actionable points.
- A preference for order and clarity in digital spaces like shared folders or task lists.
- The ability to work independently in a remote setting while staying connected to the team.
Helpful Background - Studies in business, information technology, management, or a related field are useful.
- Basic familiarity with project tools like Trello, Jira, or Asana is helpful but not required.
- Any experience coordinating a group project, whether in a school setting or a volunteer capacity.
- An interest in agile methods or the Scrum framework.
- Experience using shared documentation tools like Google Docs or Notion to collaborate with others.
What We Offer
This is a full-time, paid internship. The pay is competitive for the entry-level market and reflects the responsibilities of the role. As a fully remote team, we offer a work environment that values clear communication and respects your time. You will get direct exposure to how professional advisors solve management issues for large clients. We provide a space where you can learn how to lead meetings and manage project flows without the stiffness of a traditional corporate office. Our goal is to give you a solid foundation in project coordination that you can use throughout your career.
About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems; they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company's growth.
We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own.
The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
