Security Operations Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Security Operations Engineer to join our team and play a key role in protecting our network, systems, endpoints and cloud environments.

You will be responsible for security monitoring, incident investigation and response, vulnerability monitoring and security operations improvement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving security issues, analysing threats and working across teams in a fast-paced environment.

How you’ll contribute to MyRepublic’s success:

Security Monitoring & Incident Response

• Monitor security alerts, events and telemetry across network, systems, endpoints and cloud environments.
• Perform initial triage, investigation and classification of security incidents.
• Execute approved incident response and containment procedures; escalate complex or high-severity incidents to Security Engineering.
• Coordinate with Network Operations, Systems, Service Desk and external security providers during incidents.
• Maintain clear incident records, timelines and shift handovers.

SIEM & Security Operations

• Operate SIEM, logging, endpoint, firewall and network security platforms.
• Analyse and correlate logs to identify suspicious or abnormal activity.
• Support alert tuning, improvements and identification of security visibility gaps.
• Perform IOC enrichment and investigation using threat intelligence sources and platforms such as MISP.

Vulnerability & Security Monitoring

• Monitor vulnerability findings and coordinate remediation with relevant teams.
• Validate remediation and continue monitoring for recurring or emerging risks.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain basic scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar tools for monitoring, reporting, enrichment and operational tasks.
• Improve security playbooks, runbooks and operational processes.

We think you’ll fit in great with us if you:

• Diploma or Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Security or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of experience in Security Operations, SOC, Incident Response or a related cybersecurity role.
• Strong understanding of security monitoring, incident response and network security.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM/logging platforms such as Graylog, Wazuh, Elastic/OpenSearch, Splunk or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, DNS and TCP/IP.
• Familiarity with Windows/Linux security and Active Directory.
• Knowledge of threat intelligence, IOC analysis and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented, responsible and able to remain calm when handling security incidents.
• Willing to participate in 24x7 operational support / shift work where required.
