JOB SUMMARY
Provides administrative support to the Security department with an emphasis on ITC access control, personnel identity verification, personnel risk assessment, and security threat management activities. Adheres to and ensures compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Cyber Security Standards and compliance programs as they relate to security access controls. At the Senior level, provides subject matter expertise in access control and personnel risk assessment and serves as the primary liaison with contract companies and outside utility companies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors and maintains the daily operation of corporate access control systems and reports issues to the Security Coordinator or Manager, Corporate Security.
- Processes requests for new or replacement access control cards or keys for ITC employees, contractors, and employees of other utility companies.
- Processes changes to existing access control cards or keys and deactivates access privileges.
- Intermediate Security Specialist: Serves as a support liaison with contract companies and outside utility companies requiring access control cards for unescorted access to facilities.
- Senior Security Specialist: Serves as the primary liaison with contract companies and outside utility companies requiring access control cards for unescorted access to facilities.
- Performs and processes personnel identity verifications for non-ITC employees.
- Completes personnel risk assessments for ITC employees, contractors, and employees of other utility companies.
- Supports the ITC security threat management program in the areas of identity management, security travel, and vendor services.
- Ensures all ITC and regulatory requirements are met before issuing any level of access control and maintains access control documentation.
- Creates monthly and quarterly access control reports requested by management in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assists in preparing compliance reports for internal and external audit purposes.
- Provides and distributes keys to employees and contractors and maintains all related records.
- Administers and oversees the daily visitor access process for ITC non-substation facilities.
- Maintains an inventory of security-related supplies.
- Supports corporate security initiatives, projects, and other duties assigned by the Manager, Corporate Security.
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree in information technology, human resources, criminal justice, or a similar related technical field, or relevant equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum Experience Required:
- Intermediate Security Specialist - Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an office, security, or law enforcement setting. Five (5) years of experience in this setting is preferred.
- Senior Security Specialist - Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an office, security, or law enforcement setting. Seven (7) years of experience in this setting is preferred.
- Software:
- Intermediate Security Specialist - Experience with access control system software and security threat management is preferred.
- Senior Security Specialist - Experience with access control system software and security threat management is required.
- Proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Automate, and other programs commonly used in the industry.
- Communication:
- Intermediate Security Specialist - Possesses business acumen and effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Senior Security Specialist - Possesses exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Must maintain high ethical standards as a security professional, make ethical decisions, demonstrate exemplary conduct, protect confidential information, maintain a safe and secure workplace, develop professional rapport, pursue professional competence, and encourage high standards of security ethics.
