Role Description The Senior 3D Artist (For YouTube Documentary Scenes) is a full-time remote role responsible for creating high-quality 3D visualizations and environments that bring documentary narratives to life. Day-to-day tasks include modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering scenes based on scripts, historical references, and director feedback. The role involves collaborating closely with producers, writers, and video editors to ensure visual consistency, accuracy, and compelling storytelling across each documentary episode. The Senior 3D Artist will optimize assets for efficient production workflows, maintain organized project files, and meet deadlines aligned with publishing schedules. This role also contributes to visual style development, quality reviews, and continuous improvement of the 3D pipeline for YouTube content.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering using industry-standard software (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D).
  • Experience creating realistic or stylized environments, props, and characters suitable for documentary and narrative storytelling.
  • Ability to interpret scripts and storyboards, conduct visual research, and translate complex topics into clear, engaging visual scenes.
  • Skill in optimizing scenes, managing asset libraries, and working within production timelines for online video content.
  • Experience collaborating within remote, cross-functional teams and communicating clearly with creative and production stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with YouTube content workflows, including aspect ratios, export formats, and visual standards for digital platforms.
  • Portfolio demonstrating high-quality 3D work, preferably including documentary, educational, or narrative projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Game Art, Visual Effects, Digital Media, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of historical, scientific, or educational visualization considered a plus, along with experience in motion graphics or compositing (e.g., After Effects, Nuke).
