Overview
Join a growing, fast-paced, and high-performance account management team at AMERICAN SYSTEMS. Because of our continued growth, we are seeking to hire a Business Developer to assist with growth initiatives targeting the US Air Force. You will report directly to the Director of Accounts and serve as a corporate representative to the Air Force market. You will drive strategy and pipeline development to win new business and help ensure AMERICAN SYSTEMS is viewed favorably in the eyes of both the customer and teaming partners. Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
- Assisting in the development and execution of an account strategy and pipeline in coordination with the Business Area and Portfolio leads.
- Developing go-to-market and market penetration strategies to establish deeper customer relationships to ultimately grow the business base
- Cultivating key relationships with other businesses to include strategic partners, OEMs, trade associations and small businesses to deepen customer understanding
Relationship Management
- Supporting our operational leadership and internal customer by coordinating relevant communications and meetings, to include strategy development, pipeline discussions, opportunity assessments and reviews.
- Using strong client management skills, including the ability to develop and maintain lasting relationships with customers and industry to gain valuable intelligence and insights and subsequently position AMERICAN SYSTEMS as a trusted partner to customers.
- Identifying and managing relationships with key partners and teammates that will enhance AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ PWin and growth potential.
- Establishing customer interface and effectively delivering messaging through various means of communication.
- Creating industry events calendar and managing participation and customer engagement with internal stakeholders.
Market Research and Pipeline Development
- Support opportunity identification, pursuit and pipeline management aligned to AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ capabilities and solutions.
- Identifying, analyzing and qualifying opportunities with a high PWin potential
- Assisting in responding to government market research inquiries (e.g. RFIs, Sources Sought Notices, etc.), attending industry events, and participating in thought leadership initiatives.
- Overseeing the development of customer stakeholder maps and execution of customer call plans for opportunities, assessing competitive landscape, and applying knowledge of leading competitors to foster the development and implementation of an effective and differentiated win strategy throughout the BD/opportunity lifecycle.
- Understanding acquisition cycles and leveraging long-range forecasts for planning.
Capture and Proposal Support
- Assisting in developing and briefing bid review presentations for new business opportunities, pursuit and associated business cases for advancing opportunities that will grow the business base.
- When necessary, assisting Capture and Proposal Managers, ensuring advancement of capture and proposal readiness through continued customer and business partner communications and interface.
- Aiding in the identification and facilitation in the securing teaming agreements,
- Supporting in capture and proposal activities through color reviews and other meetings to ensure efforts have captured the voice of the customer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, with preference for scientific, engineering, or business disciplines; advanced degree highly desired
- Previous experience in an Air Force leadership position at the Group level or above; command experience highly desired.
- Operational Air Force experience in a rated career field (e.g., pilot, CSO/WSO, or related aircrew roles) desired.
- Current understanding of Air Force acquisition processes, priorities, and strategic direction, including how the AF is procuring services and mission solutions.
- Experience and demonstrated understanding developing qualified pipelines and winning new business.
- Strong knowledge of federal acquisition regulations, government contracting policies, and key AF/DoD contract vehicles.
- Awareness of current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors.
- Experience supporting SAP and/or SCI programs.
- Knowledge of leading partners and competitors in the market.
- Ability to manage multiple customer relationships to maximize business opportunities.
- Demonstrated success identifying, qualifying, and helping organizations win contracts exceeding $50M.
- Ability to identify key growth areas and develop new business aligned with the company’s growth strategy and campaigns.
- Ability to present and communicate effectively at senior levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to leverage technology and tools related to customer relationship management, pipeline management, market intelligence, and business analytics.
- Top Secret clearance required.
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the time or as business dictates.
