Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $105,000.00 Annually Title: Senior Account Manager – Technical Lead Location: Remote Reports to: 3(16) Administration Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary: The Senior Account Manager – Technical Lead maintains client relationships and independently manages assigned accounts under supervision. This role performs compliance testing, calculates contributions, prepares Form 5500 filings, and works with auditors to support accurate, timely, and compliant plan administration. Technical Leadership and Team Support Serves as a subject matter expert and technical resource for complex plan administration, compliance, testing, correction, and client service matters. Provides guidance, support, and mentoring to team members, helping strengthen knowledge-sharing and consistent service delivery. Client Service and Collaboration The position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of customer service, and the ability to work effectively with clients, auditors, advisors, and internal team members. The role also requires a high level of confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive client and plan information. Experience Expectations This position is intended for experienced account managers who have mastered the role and are willing and able to mentor others and serve as a significant team resource. Responsibilities: Plan Administration, Compliance, and Technical Expertise Interpret plan documents and identify opportunities to improve plan administration, communication, and service delivery for clients and partners. Apply extensive knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations for qualified plans, including 403(b) plans; remain current on industry changes and communicate relevant updates to clients and team members. Analyze census data to determine eligibility and work with clients and payroll teams to confirm eligibility for each entry date. Calculate employer contributions based on plan provisions and confirm annual funding amounts with clients when requested. Perform plan redesign and projection testing to support client planning and compliance needs. Testing, Corrections, and Year-End Deliverables Perform annual nondiscrimination testing, including ADP/ACP, 415, 402(g), 416, and 410(b), and explain testing results to clients. Apply advanced testing and correction techniques, including self-correction, VCP, DFVCP, and other appropriate correction methods. Determine and calculate plan corrections needed to maintain compliance, and work with clients to ensure corrections are properly completed. Identify missed deferral opportunities and coordinate with clients to complete required corrections. Review the timeliness of employee deferral remittances, notify employers of late deposits, outline applicable corrections, confirm deposits are made, and report corrections on Form 5500 as required. Conduct annual year-end cleanup, including follow-up on forfeiture reallocations and source transfers identified during compliance review. Identify required minimum distribution needs and ensure communications are sent to eligible participants. Post year-end client deliverables to Salesforce. Government Filings, Audits, and Plan Documents Prepare government filings, including Form 5500 and related schedules, Forms 5558, 5330, and 8955, and discuss filings with clients as needed. Prepare filings for complex circumstances, such as short-form to long-form transitions, first-year filings, plan termination filings, and 403(b) pre-2009 carve-outs. Work directly with the plan’s Form 5500 auditor, including discussing corrections, resolving plan issues, and supporting audit-related requests. Submit amendment requests to Legal; update Relius specifications and platform specifications; obtain signatures; and follow up with clients through completion. Team Leadership and Process Improvement Serve as a technical lead by providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and support to team members on complex plan administration, compliance, testing, correction, and client service matters. Work with administrators to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner. Mentor and train new account managers. Participate in special projects that improve processes, consistency, and service delivery. Present and teach technical concepts in internal team meetings. Client Service and Relationship Management Deliver timely, high-quality customer service and issue resolution to clients and advisors. Maintain strong client relationships and support a high client-retention rate. Attend client and advisor calls and meetings; lead meetings and present information professionally when appropriate. Support onboarding by participating in client document calls and assisting the client transition team in obtaining prior-year or prior-platform information. Work with clients to complete plan termination activities when needed. Manage more complex, sensitive, or high-priority client relationships as assigned.
