What Will You Do? 🦾

As a Senior Accountant, you will join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability and scalability of our accounting operations. As Smartness continues to grow internationally, you'll help strengthen our financial processes, support strategic decision-making and ensure compliance across an increasingly complex business environment.

As Part Of Your Role, Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Accounting Operations: You will manage the full accounting cycle, including both accounts receivable and accounts payable. You'll ensure the correct recording of invoices, match payments with accounting entries, monitor outstanding balances and manage payment deadlines accurately.
• General Ledger Management: You will handle general ledger accounting activities, including payroll-related entries, fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, prepayments, provisions and financial liabilities, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial records.
• Treasury & Cash Flow Management: You will oversee banking operations, execute payments and bank transfers, perform bank reconciliations and support the monitoring of the company's cash position and financial flows.
• Tax & Statutory Compliance: You will ensure compliance with tax and administrative deadlines, working proactively to guarantee timely and accurate financial reporting.
• External Stakeholder Management: You will collaborate closely with tax advisors, external accountants, auditors and other stakeholders, coordinating documentation requests and supporting audit activities with professionalism and accuracy.
• Financial Statements & Year-End Closing: You will actively contribute to the preparation of financial statements, performing reconciliations and controls to ensure completeness and accuracy. You will support and eventually lead year-end closing activities, including the preparation of the statutory financial statements and the Notes to the Financial Statements.
  
  

What Are We Looking For? 👀

• Accounting Expertise: You have a deep understanding of accounting principles and solid experience managing both general ledger accounting and the full accounts payable/receivable cycle.
• Financial Reporting: You are confident reading, reviewing and preparing financial statements, and you have hands-on experience supporting or leading year-end closing activities.
• ERP Systems: You have experience working with accounting ERP systems to manage accounting records and financial processes. Experience with NetSuite is considered a strong plus.
• Reporting & Data Management: You are comfortable extracting data from accounting systems, preparing reports and ensuring proper documentation and record management.
• Digital Tools: You have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly Excel or Google Sheets.
• Professional Experience: You have 8–10+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally within fast-growing and dynamic companies.
• Languages: You are a native Italian speaker and have a basic working knowledge of English, allowing you to interact with international colleagues and external stakeholders when needed.

During Your First 12 Months, You'll Have The Opportunity To Make a Tangible Impact On Our Finance Function. In Particular, We Expect You To

• Successfully manage and contribute to the company’s year-end financial closing process.
• Prepare and deliver the statutory Notes to the Financial Statements (Nota Integrativa) accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.

• Competitive compensation with performance-based incentives. For this position, we typically offer an OTE package ranging from €45,000 to €60,000 annually, depending on experience and expected impact. Our compensation philosophy is designed to reward growth, ownership, and meaningful contributions. As you develop your skills and increase your impact within the company, your compensation can progress rapidly to reflect your achievements and responsibilities. For exceptional candidates demonstrating outstanding potential or experience, we may consider offers beyond the standard compensation ranges.
