Senior Accountant Location: Waltham, MA, Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite and 2 days remote) COMPANY Thea Pharma Inc. is the newly established US commercial organization of French-based pharmaceutical company, Laboratoires Théa (Clermont-Ferrand). SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant partners closely with the U.S. Finance team and supports the Corporate Headquarters' financial needs, works closely with the Assistant Controller and FP&A in the areas of accounting, payroll, budgeting & forecasting, and managing the general ledger. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Daily and Monthly Close Support: Manage payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and related month-end activities. Play a key role in the monthly close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries and completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations. Partnering with Accounting and FP&A to ensure accurate financial reporting, budget alignment, and strategic decision-making support Assist with the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor POs, invoices and payments. Support general ledger accounting and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and reconciling items. Accounting, Compliance, and Audit Support: Support key accounting and control processes including financial reporting and reconciliations. Maintain SOX controls and ensure compliance with international statutory reporting requirements. Identify and implement order to cash and procure to pay process improvements. Assist with financial audits, coordinate with external auditors, and providing necessary documentation and analysis. Help strengthen and uphold internal controls for financial operations. Support financial system transformations and UAT testing. Functional Leadership and Collaboration: Initiate and support optimal financial processes and support company objectives. Collaborate across multiple teams for successful implementation of financial projects and initiatives. Manage ad hoc projects and analyses as needed. Data Analysis: Integrate and ensure data integrity of third-party feeds into business warehousing platforms. Help evolve advanced data models for tracking and reporting. Conduct data quality audits and reconcile data discrepancies to ensure data integrity. PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. Positive work ethic, excellent communication and organizational skills, high attention to detail, and unquestionable integrity and personal ethics. Firm understanding of SOX compliance and extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP with the ability and ingenuity to adapt financials to view in French GAAP. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master of Science in Accountancy, or equivalent combination of education and experience Pursuing CPA and/or MBA, desirable 5+ years of total accounting or finance experience across industries Regulatory, Compliance, and Audited ERP system experience Startup dynamic and fast-paced environment experience, preferred International and complex matrixed organization experience, preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriately. For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $95k to $115k. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position.
