In this role, you will lead critical accounting functions, including monthly and year-end close activities, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, project and contract accounting, audit support, and accounting systems administration. Working closely with the Director of Finance, you will help strengthen financial operations, improve processes, and provide accurate financial information that supports organizational decision making. Compensation within this range is dependent on experience, parity with peers, and where an employee lives. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. At least five years of progressively responsible general accounting experience. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Demonstrated experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting. Experience reviewing and supporting AP, AR, and payroll accounting processes. Understanding of revenue recognition principles. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting issues. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a remote work environment. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Understanding of internal controls, segregation of duties, and fraud-prevention practices. Additional assets a candidate may possess include the following. Experience working within nonprofit, project-based, grant-funded, or government-contract accounting environments. Experience supporting annual financial statement audits. Sage Intacct experience. Experience improving, automating, or streamlining accounting processes and reporting workflows.
