WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Senior Accountant, you will ensure that the financial operations of the organization are well-managed, compliant, and transparent, contributing to overall business success in line with H&M Group rules and local regulations.
You will:
- Perform month-end closing activities and ensure that the general ledger is accurate and up to date.
- Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, review reconciliations prepared by others, and resolve discrepancies between the general ledger and sub-ledgers.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Work with Polish VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and Withholding Tax (WHT), including tax calculations, declarations, and related reporting.
- Ensure accounting procedures comply with Polish accounting and statutory requirements while following H&M Group accounting rules.
- Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including bookings and depreciation calculations.
- Analyse, reconcile, and amortize prepaid accounts.
- Participate in liquidity planning.
- Support internal and external audits and provide required accounting documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Shared Service Center and accounting teams across the regional HUB.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be a collaborative and supportive team player who enjoys coaching, supporting, and helping others while naturally building strong cross-functional relationships. You will work closely with the local accounting team and the Shared Service Center, as well as collaborate with accounting managers, seniors, and experts across countries within the HUB East Europe.
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for people with:
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in retail or a similar sector (FMCG).
- Strong knowledge of Polish accounting regulations and statutory requirements.
- Practical experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Practical experience in preparing and ensuring accurate tax reporting, including:
- Annual CIT calculations
- Monthly VAT returns and corrections
- Key tax and statutory reporting such as MDR, WHT, PSD, IFT-2R, and TPR
- Experience in preparing statutory financial statements.
- Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, preferably SAP, Trintech Cadency, or BlackLine.
- Excellent communication skills in Polish and English, both written and spoken.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

This is a full-time role, based on a local contract in Warsaw, Poland. The Senior Accountant is part of Accounting department and reports to the Accounting Manager PL/HU/CZ/SK.
