Senior Accountant

Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team and play a key role in both day-to-day accounting operations and the continuous improvement of our accounting processes and procedures.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who enjoys bringing structure, efficiency, and clarity to accounting operations, while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Reporting

• Record accounting transactions accurately and in accordance with Romanian legislation and internal company policies.
• Prepare and review monthly and annual trial balances, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax and fiscal regulations, including VAT, corporate income tax, and statutory tax filings.
• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate supporting documentation for all accounting records.
• Collaborate with external auditors throughout financial audit processes.

Accounting Processes & Procedures

• Work closely with the Accounting Manager to define, document, and implement accounting processes and internal procedures, ensuring consistency, transparency, and operational efficiency.
• Review existing workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and implement solutions to enhance accuracy and reduce processing time.
• Contribute to the development, documentation, and continuous maintenance of the company's accounting policies and procedures manual.
• Act as an Accounting Business Partner, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve communication and streamline interdepartmental financial processes.
• Participate in digitalization and automation initiatives, including ERP system development and process optimization projects.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
• Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting legislation and tax regulations.
• Proven experience in defining, documenting, or improving accounting processes and procedures.
• Previous experience in a Big Four firm is considered an advantage.
• Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel; PowerPoint proficiency is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• Very good communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in English.
