The Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting role supports the preparation of accurate, timely financial reporting across a complex multi-entity structure that includes wholly owned entities, joint ventures, and not-for-profit communities. In partnership with Financial Reporting leadership and accounting teams, this individual will prepare consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, disclosures, and audit deliverables; perform recurring and reporting activities; prepare ad hoc reports and schedules; and maintain well-supported documentation. The role requires strong US GAAP knowledge, attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and effective oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual and interim standalone and consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, statements of operations, changes in net assets or equity, cash flows, and related footnote disclosures.
- Compile, validate, and reconcile financial data from the general ledger, and supporting source systems to ensure reporting completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare consolidation schedules, noncontrolling interest calculations, equity method accounting schedules, and consolidated cash flow statements.
- Maintain financial statement workpapers, disclosure checklists, roll-forward schedules, and other recurring reporting documentation.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual balances, period-over-period changes, and inconsistencies across financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with corporate accounting, community finance teams, and other stakeholders to obtain and validate information required for reporting.
- Prepare audit support schedules, respond to external auditor and management requests, and maintain clear, organized documentation supporting reported amounts and disclosures.
- Apply established accounting policies and US GAAP guidance to routine reporting matters and escalate complex or non-routine accounting questions to Technical Accounting leadership.
- Apply guidance received from Technical Accounting team as appropriate to prepare new disclosures and schedules and update existing reporting documents and presentation.
- Assist with internal management, lender, owner, and regulatory reporting requirements and ad hoc requests.
- Support process improvements, reporting-system enhancements, and standardization of templates, workpapers, and controls.

Compensation: $95,000 – 105,000 per year plus eligibility for annual bonus.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience, including experience preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
- CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement presentation and disclosure requirements
- Experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate reconciliations, roll-forwards, consolidations, cash flow statements, and audit-ready workpapers
- Consolidation experience in a multi-entity environment; experience with majority and minority interests or joint ventures preferred
- Experience supporting external audits and responding to audit requests; senior living, healthcare, or real estate experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines, including recurring tasks and distinct projects.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across accounting and business teams
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with large ERP systems and data sets
