Team Overview
Our Finance organization partners closely with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections and business leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting, scalable processes and sound business decision-making. The General Ledger team plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of IPC’s financial records by leading close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, intercompany accounting and control compliance across the global organization.
Role Overview:
The Senior Accountant, General Ledger will be a key member of IPC’s Accounting team, owning critical close, reconciliation and financial reporting activities for a global fintech business with multiple legal entities and complex transactions. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, strengthening controls, improving systems and processes, and helping a growing Finance organization scale.
This position will serve as a trusted general ledger accounting subject matter expert, helping ensure timely and accurate close execution, well-supported account balances, appropriate accounting treatment, audit-ready documentation, strong internal controls and reliable financial information for leadership decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Own assigned general ledger workstreams within the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, ensuring transactions are recorded completely, accurately and on time in accordance with applicable accounting standards and IPC policies.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, roll-forwards and supporting schedules for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Investigate reconciling items and unusual balances, resolve discrepancies promptly and maintain clear, audit-ready support.
- Perform balance sheet and income statement analysis, including period-over-period fluctuation reviews, and provide clear commentary on material trends and variances.
- Own intercompany accounting for assigned entities, including transaction recording, confirmation, reconciliation, settlement coordination and elimination support, and work with global counterparts to resolve mismatches before close deadlines.
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections and other stakeholders to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
- Maintain strong documentation and control discipline to support external audits, SOX requirements and statutory reporting needs.
- Contribute to ERP enhancements, automation opportunities and process redesign initiatives that improve close efficiency, data quality and reporting consistency.
- Collaborate with accounting leadership on complex or non-routine transactions, accounting policy application, legal-entity reporting and finance transformation projects.
- Provide guidance to junior team members as needed and help build scalable, consistent general ledger accounting practices across the global organization.
Because this role partners with colleagues across IPC’s global Finance organization, the successful candidate must be comfortable collaborating across time zones and providing reasonable flexibility during critical close, audit and reporting periods.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Own meaningful general ledger accounting work for a global fintech business with multiple legal entities and complex transactions.
- Strengthen close quality, balance sheet integrity, audit readiness and internal controls through accurate accounting, disciplined reconciliations and clear documentation.
- Partner across Finance and the business to resolve accounting issues and deliver reliable financial information for decision-making.
- Contribute to systems, automation and process improvement initiatives that help the Finance organization close faster and scale with greater consistency.
- Build a highly visible career path in a role that combines accounting depth, analytical problem-solving, cross-functional partnership and exposure to senior finance leadership.
Essential Skills and Experience to be Successful in this Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
- A recognised professional accounting qualification or progress toward one is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful general ledger, corporate accounting or financial reporting experience in a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany accounting and balance sheet account ownership.
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, roll-forwards, fluctuation analyses and audit-ready support through monthly, quarterly and year-end close cycles.
- Ability to investigate complex or unusual transactions, identify root causes of discrepancies and apply sound accounting judgment.
- Experience with large ERP and close-management systems; Oracle Cloud experience is a strong plus.
- Strong Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately with large data sets and competing close deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting issues, close status and required actions to Finance stakeholders across countries, functions and levels of seniority.
- Curiosity, ownership mindset and a continuous improvement orientation, with a desire to strengthen processes, controls and systems.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a multinational company, regional finance hub, shared-services or global business-services environment; experience in fintech, technology, telecommunications, SaaS or managed services is an advantage.
- Exposure to Oracle Cloud, BlackLine or similar reconciliation and close-management tools, and Power BI or comparable reporting platforms.
- Knowledge of IFRS, foreign currency accounting, multinational intercompany activity or statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting system implementations, integrations, automation or finance transformation initiatives.
- Prior experience in public accounting or an audit-facing role.
