Senior Accountant, General Ledger & Compliance

Department: Finance

Location: Zug, Switzerland (Hybrid - approx. 60% on-site / 40% remote)

Position Overview

As a key member of the global finance team, the Senior Accountant - General Ledger & Compliance will take ownership of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, VAT and compliance across all our entities. The role supports monthly reporting activities, contributes to the external and statutory audit process and partners closely with other stakeholders across the business in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment where accuracy, initiative, and a hands-on mindset make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger

• Record and manage all general ledger journal entries as part of the month-end close process
• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close timeline in coordination with other Teams
• Perform monthly prepayment releases and maintain the prepayments schedule
• Book and release accruals, working closely with Accounts Payables and the business on accrual estimates
• Set up new fixed assets in the system and maintain the fixed asset register
• Book monthly payroll journal entries based on files received from HR
• Perform all balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved on a timely basis
• Reconcile debt and loan balances, including intercompany loans, and ensure interest accruals are booked accurately

VAT & Tax Compliance

• Prepare and file monthly/quarterly VAT returns and address all VAT related requests from the authorities across all EU entities

Audit & SOX Compliance

• Support the preparation of documentation for the external group audit as well as statutory audit across the EU entities
• Support process improvement initiatives within the accounting function
• Maintain SOX internal control documentation and evidence of executed controls
• Support the maintenance and periodic update of vVARDIS's accounting policies and procedures to reflect new standards and evolving business requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience in an international, multi-entity environment, ideally gained within a US company or a US GAAP environment
• Experience with Microsoft D365
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in day-to-day work
• Proactive, hands-on, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
