The position will see the successful candidate working in a dynamic and exciting role with exposure to domestic and international consultancy projects. Job Description WKC is seeking a full-time Senior Acoustic Consultant with at least 5 years’ relevant experience to join and support the continued growth of our UK acoustics team. The successful candidate will take a leading role in conducting and managing noise impact assessments, from initial project scope and noise surveys to noise modelling, technical assessment, report preparation, and client liaison. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of environmental noise regulations, standards, and assessment methodologies, along with practical experience in environmental noise modelling, data analysis, and report writing. The candidate is also expected to be a full member of the Institute of Acoustics (IoA). The role will involve working across a varied portfolio of UK and international projects and will provide opportunities to contribute to the continued development of WKC’s acoustics capability and wider UK environmental consultancy business. Key Responsibilities Manage and deliver environmental noise and acoustics projects from initial scoping through to final reporting. Undertake and oversee environmental noise surveys and assessments. Develop and review environmental noise models using SoundPLAN. Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals and fee estimates. Provide technical advice on noise impacts, mitigation measures and regulatory compliance. Liaise directly with clients, project teams, regulators and other technical disciplines. Manage project budgets, programmes, and deliverables. Support and mentor junior members of the acoustics team. Contribute to business development, proposal preparation and the continued growth of WKC’s UK acoustics offering. Collaborate with WKC colleagues across the UK and international offices on multidisciplinary projects. Experience and Qualifications BSc in a Scientific, Engineering or Acoustics related field. At least 5 years’ relevant professional experience in environmental acoustics or noise consultancy. Advanced proficiency in SoundPLAN is essential, with the ability to independently develop, review, and troubleshoot complex environmental noise models. Strong knowledge of noise regulations and standards such as BS 4142, BS 5228, CRTN, ISO 9613 etc. Experience undertaking environmental noise surveys. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions. Strong technical report writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and non-specialists. Experience managing projects, budgets and deadlines. Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Full membership with the IoA is desirable.
