Your New Role

As Senior Actuarial Manager, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of the Actuarial Practice’s work program and manage a team of actuarial professionals. You will be accountable for the quality, timeliness and technical integrity of actuarial outputs across retirement solutions, member and fund projections, defined benefits, insurance analysis, remediation calculations, regulatory reporting, calculators and digital tools.

  • 10 Month Max Term Opportunity
  • Sydney or Melbourne location
  • Hybrid working environment

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach and develop the Actuarial Manager(s) and Actuarial Analyst(s), including goal setting, regular performance conversations and development planning.
  • Allocate and prioritise work across the team, balancing BAU and initiative work against capability, capacity and the Fund’s priorities.
  • Support team members’ progression toward actuarial qualifications and build depth across key capability areas to reduce key-person risk.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of the Practice’s work program, ensuring projects and BAU deliverables are scoped, resourced and delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Provide senior peer review and technical sign-off on models, projections, calculations, reports and advice produced by the team.
  • Act as deputy to the Actuarial Practice Lead, representing the Practice at internal forums and committees in their absence.
  • Implement and maintain the Actuarial Practice frameworks, processes, model governance and tooling set by the Practice Lead.
  • Lead actuarial inputs, models and calculations supporting the Retirement Income Strategy and key retirement product propositions, including solution design and pricing.

How do you exceed our expectations?

  • 10+ years of actuarial work experience, including at least five years within superannuation or wealth management.
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Actuarial Studies, Econometrics or Quantitative Finance.
  • Fellow of the Actuaries Institute (FIAA).
  • Experience leading and developing actuarial professionals, including managing manager-level staff.
  • Deep knowledge of the superannuation and wealth management industries, particularly retirement solutions, defined benefit, insurance, legislation and policy.
  • Advanced proficiency in actuarial methodologies and financial modelling, with a track record of peer review and technical sign-off.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex actuarial projects end-to-end.
  • Proficiency with coding (e.g. R, Python, Matlab, VBA) and working knowledge of SQL, Power BI and Microsoft Azure.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders.
