The Senior ADHD Specialist Independent Prescriber plays an advanced clinical role within Psychiatry UK's ADHD service, managing a high-volume caseload of adult patients and delivering safe, effective, evidence-based prescribing throughout the ADHD treatment pathway. Reporting to the Team Lead and working closely with Consultant Psychiatrists, the post holder is responsible for the independent or supplementary prescribing of ADHD medication, undertaking medication titration, End of Titration Reviews (EOTRs), annual medication reviews, and ongoing treatment in accordance with NICE guidance and Psychiatry UK clinical policies. This role is designed for an experienced ADHD prescriber with highly developed clinical judgement, capable of managing complex prescribing decisions, assessing and mitigating clinical risk, and delivering consistently high standards of patient care across an increased caseload. The focus of the role is on direct clinical delivery rather than supervision or management responsibilities. This is a home-based role (applicants must reside in the UK), though occasional travel may be required for face-to-face meetings at various locations within the UK. As our Senior ADHD Specialist Independent Prescriber , you will: Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based prescribing for ADHD patients in accordance with national guidance and internal protocols. Manage a larger clinical caseload while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and patient experience. Independently complete End of Titration Reviews (EOTRs) and annual medication reviews, ensuring clinical clarity and continuity of care. Assess, initiate, adjust, and monitor ADHD medications using independent or supplementary prescribing qualifications, exercising sound clinical judgement throughout treatment. Communicate with patients through Psychiatry UK's secure patient portal, providing timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate advice regarding medication and treatment. Undertake comprehensive risk assessments, identify safeguarding concerns, and escalate appropriately in line with organisational procedures. Participate in multidisciplinary discussions with Consultant Psychiatrists, prescribers, and operational colleagues to support coordinated patient care. Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical records using Psychiatry UK's electronic patient record systems. Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activities to support the ongoing development of ADHD services. Keep up to date with ADHD clinical guidance, prescribing legislation, and professional standards through continuous professional development. Identify opportunities to improve prescribing pathways, patient experience, and service efficiency through feedback and clinical insight. To succeed as our Senior ADHD Specialist Independent Prescriber , you will have: Advanced prescribing skills and exceptional clinical judgement in ADHD medication management, with substantial experience managing complex patient presentations across the ADHD pathway. You'll have a strong understanding of medication titration, side effect management, treatment optimisation, and long-term prescribing, alongside excellent communication skills for delivering high-quality remote patient care. You'll be confident making autonomous clinical decisions, contributing to multidisciplinary discussions, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, applying safeguarding principles, and using electronic patient record systems and digital communication platforms effectively. You must have confidence in your computer literacy and ensuring that you are able to communicate effectively and efficiently by written word and over the phone. Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Registered Nurses First-level registered Mental Health nurse (RMN) or First-level registered nurse (Adult Nurse/Children’s Nurse/Learning Disabilities Nurse) (with one year post qualification Secondary Mental Health service experience or further training - desirable). Must have Independent & Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) qualification with 1-year post-prescribing qualification experience. Minimum 4 years of clinical experience in ADHD prescribing roles (private or NHS), including titration, medication reviews, and long-term management of ADHD treatment. (Secondary mental health services are defined by there is a need for a GP referral to the service. Secondary mental health experience includes inpatient care, community mental health teams, psychological wellbeing services, crisis resolution and home treatment teams, assertive outreach teams and early intervention teams) Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Additional training or postgraduate qualifications in mental health, prescribing, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Experience working with complex or treatment-resistant ADHD cases. Experience in remote clinical service provision or digital healthcare environments. Familiarity with clinical audit and quality improvement processes. Experience using ADHD rating scales and validated clinical tools. Comfort with working in a dynamic, technology-enabled clinical environment. Ability to support the development of peers through knowledge-sharing and informal mentoring.
