About The Role
Balfour Beatty is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled
Street Lighting Operative to join our Street Lighting Operations team in Cambridgeshire. Working on our long-term 25-year PFI contract with Cambridgeshire County Council, you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving the county's street lighting infrastructure.
This is a permanent, site-based role where you'll be responsible for carrying out installation, maintenance and repair activities across a wide range of street lighting assets, helping to keep local communities safe and connected.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair and maintain street lighting assets including columns, lanterns, LED lantern replacements, lamps, brackets and beacons.
- Carry out maintenance and repairs to illuminated bollards, illuminated signs, feeder pillars and subway lighting.
- Install and maintain underground SWA cables.
- Undertake ground excavations and reinstatement works associated with installations.
- Complete dynamic risk assessments and work safely in accordance with company procedures.
- Take responsibility for company vehicles, equipment and property.
- Carry out painting of street furniture where required.
- Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota for emergency call-outs.
- Work independently for the majority of tasks, whilst supporting team activities when required.
Who we're looking for
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience and competence in street lighting operations.
- Knowledge of fault finding, repair and maintenance of street lighting assets.
- Comfortable using basic IT systems and mobile tablet devices.
Qualifications & Competencies
The following are required for the role, although training may be provided where necessary:
- HEA Portfolio
- First Aid
- Manual Handling
- Current ECS Test
- CSCS/NPORS Red Card
- NRSWA
- IPAF 1b including Harness & Fall Arrest
- G39 and 214 Safe Isolation
- ESSW
- 1 (12D) Traffic Management
- 1 Abrasive Wheels
- Understanding of Sign Lighting and Guarding
