  • $115,000–$126,000 per annum (pro rata) + 15.4% ABC Nominated Super

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced psychologist to join our People & Culture team on a six-month contract, supporting the psychological wellbeing of ABC employees working across diverse and sometimes challenging environments.

Reporting to the Head of Inclusion & Wellbeing, you'll lead and deliver workplace wellbeing initiatives, including the ABC's Peer Support Program, psychological wellbeing check-ins and specialised training for employees and teams exposed to challenging or potentially distressing work.

This is a role focused on early intervention, building organisational capability and providing practical psychological support, rather than ongoing clinical counselling.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Providing targeted wellbeing check-ins, early intervention support and appropriate triage and referrals for employees and teams experiencing distress or exposure to challenging events.
  • Leading the delivery of the ABC's refreshed Peer Support Program, including facilitating training, providing ongoing support to peer supporters and evaluating its effectiveness.
  • Developing and facilitating wellbeing workshops, group debriefs and resilience training for teams working in demanding environments, including emergency broadcasting and news reporting.
  • Building the capability of managers and employees to recognise and respond to mental health and wellbeing concerns.
  • Providing specialist psychological advice on trauma exposure, psychosocial injury, crisis management and appropriate support pathways.

About You

You'll be an experienced, registered psychologist who brings a practical, compassionate and considered approach to workplace mental health and wellbeing. You're confident facilitating group discussions and training, comfortable supporting people through challenging situations and able to build trust with employees at all levels.

You'll Also Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment, early intervention, trauma-informed support and appropriate referral pathways.
  • Experience facilitating group debriefs, wellbeing workshops and psychological support sessions.
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement.
  • Experience managing, evaluating or improving wellbeing programs or initiatives.
  • A Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent, with experience delivering trauma, resilience or workplace wellbeing training.

Experience supporting employees in high-pressure environments, particularly within news, media, emergency services or other complex organisations, would be highly regarded.
