About the company

Our client is a technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design and deliver AI-powered software from early concept through live production use, owning the work from scoping to hardening. Collaborate with product and design colleagues on what to build, and turn lessons from each project into reusable components for the next.

What you'll do

- Build agent-based AI applications, including retrieval, orchestration and tool integrations, for new products from the earliest stage through market fit.

- Take a first product from scoping to launch, aiming for the leanest version that demonstrates value before making it production-ready.

- Pull reusable components and patterns out of each project so later efforts begin from a stronger position.

- Partner with product strategists and design partners to influence what gets built as well as how.

- Shift between very different project settings as priorities change and stay effective in ambiguous conditions.

What we're looking for

- 3 to 7 years of engineering experience, ideally at a leading quantitative firm or a well-regarded technology company, with individual contributions you can clearly distinguish.

- A track record of taking AI applications live in production environments where they were used and tested by actual users, beyond prototypes or notebooks.

- Hands-on production experience with agents, retrieval, orchestration, tool integrations and evaluation harnesses.

- Entrepreneurial instinct shown through a side project, startup or internal zero-to-one build.

- A STEM degree such as computer science, math, physics or engineering.

- Business awareness and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and partners outside engineering.

- Proficiency in Python.

Bonus points

- Experience as a founding or early engineer at an AI-focused startup.

- Quantitative background combined with an interest in building products.

Compensation and benefits

- Base salary: USD 190,000 to 250,000 per year

- Equity

Location and work model

- New York, NY, United States or Chicago, IL, United States

- Hybrid, 3 days per week in office

- Full-time
