Senior AI Product Engineer (m/f/d) - Berlin

Your Mission

Build the software that runs a construction business.

VARM is a technology company at heart. We run insulation operations at scale, from the first customer contact to the finished installation, and we are building an AI system that runs every process behind it. Today, people make the decisions and the system does the work around them. As we scale, the system takes on more.

We built that for ourselves. Now we are building it for everyone else in European trade.

You'll own Blue, our platform for external construction and craft businesses: the software that lets them run their core business on autopilot. It started as our partner portal and has grown into B2B software. You'll turn it into a product that scales.

No tickets, no PM in between. You talk to the businesses using it, decide what gets built, design it and ship it.

You'll own a product, not just a codebase.
Your Tasks

1. The platform for construction businesses

Own Blue end to end, from data model to UI. Today it connects VARM with the craft partners who install for us. Your job is to grow it into the system those businesses run their own company on.

2. Autopilot for the trades

Take the workflows we automated for our own operations and make them work for any construction business: planning, coordination, and the decisions that today need a phone call. Humans stay in the loop where it matters. The system handles the rest.

3. The AI layer

Our AI system is built on the knowledge of thousands of past projects, and we plan to post-train our own model on it. You contribute where that intelligence shows up in your product and build the bridge between the model and the people using it.

Your Profile

• You have 5+ years of experience building and shipping real software products, ideally in a VC-funded startup or similarly fast-moving environment

• You are strong across the stack, including TypeScript, modern frontend frameworks, backend systems, APIs and SQL

• You have integrated AI into production software, whether LLM APIs, RAG, agents or similar, and understand what it takes to make it reliable for real users

• You take ownership from idea to production and don't wait for detailed specs

• You are product-minded, enjoy talking to users and can turn ambiguous problems into simple, working solutions

• You actively use AI and agentic coding to develop faster, but still care about code quality, architecture and knowing when not to use an LLM

• You are comfortable making technical decisions independently and designing reliable systems that can scale and drive business impact

Bonus:

• Experience in B2B products, marketplaces or operations-heavy environments such as field services, construction or logistics

• Working proficiency in German is a plus, since many of the businesses you build for speak German
