Join Aprio's Restaurant, Franchise & Hospitality Client Accounting & Advisory Services team and help restaurant operators, franchisees, and hospitality businesses turn accurate financial information into better operating decisions. Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm seeking a Senior Accounting Associate to join this dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the Client Accounting & Advisory Services team, providing accounting, financial reporting, and advisory support to restaurant groups, franchise operators, emerging concepts, and hospitality organizations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements at the location and consolidated levels, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery while helping highlight key performance drivers to clients.
  • Support month-end and year-end close, including key reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and location-level and consolidated reporting.
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for assigned clients, providing timely communication and helping explain financial results and practical recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with U.S.-based and offshore team members to coordinate workflows, manage priorities, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Review work prepared by associates and offshore accounting professionals, escalating technical questions as needed and providing clear, constructive feedback.
  • Support client onboarding, accounting clean-up, new-location and acquisition transitions, and process improvements across multi-unit and multi-entity organizations.
  • Work effectively with restaurant accounting systems, including Restaurant365, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, point-of-sale systems, payroll, and accounts payable platforms.
  • Support financial analysis, KPI reporting, budgeting, and cash flow monitoring using key restaurant metrics such as sales, labor, food cost, prime cost, and unit-level profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiencies, and enhance the client experience through technology and automation.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits, tax engagements, and other client reporting requirements.
  • Maintain organized workpapers and ensure compliance with firm standards, accounting principles, and internal quality expectations.
  • Participate in team training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years of accounting experience within public accounting, client accounting services, outsourced accounting, or a combination of public and industry experience.
    • Prior public accounting experience is a plus.
    • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements for multiple clients or entities.
    • Experience with Restaurant365, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks Online and multi-location or multi-entity accounting is strongly preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, inventory and cost-of-sales accounting, sales tax, gift cards, delivery platforms, and intercompany activity.
    • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to work directly with clients.
    • Experience collaborating with offshore teams and leveraging distributed resources is highly preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
    • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to a collaborative culture.
    • Strong judgment, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
    • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, and technology adoption.
    • Willingness to embrace approved AI tools to improve efficiency and insights while maintaining professional judgment, accuracy, and client confidentiality.
    • Industry experience in the restaurant, franchise, and hospitality segment is a plus.
