The Senior Audit Consultant is a senior audit professional responsible for leading complex operational or IT audits and advisory activities, depending on their area of specialization. The role provides risk-based insight, supports delivery of the annual audit plan, and works closely with business leaders to assess governance, risk management and control effectiveness. This position plans, schedules and oversees audit activities, prepares clear audit reports, and discusses findings with managers, VPs and other senior leaders. The Senior Audit Consultant also provides technical guidance, quality oversight, coaching and training to audit team members. As one of Audit Services’ senior resources, this position is expected to exercise strong judgment, influence stakeholders, demonstrate leadership across the organization, and contribute to continuous improvement in audit practices, reporting quality and team capability.

How you will create impact:

  • Lead complex, higher-risk, cross-functional or strategically significant audits, including defining audit scope, objectives, approach and reporting strategy in collaboration with Audit Services leadership.
  • Provide senior-level advisory support on corporate initiatives, projects and operational changes by assessing risks, controls, governance considerations and regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare clear, concise and well-organized audit reports, influence practical action plans, and present findings to senior management and business partners.
  • Provide technical guidance, quality review and coaching to audit team members on audit planning, testing strategies, evidence evaluation, root cause analysis, issue writing and stakeholder communication.
  • Support delivery of a subset of the annual audit plan by monitoring progress, escalating delivery risks and helping ensure audit work is completed on time and in accordance with internal audit methodology and professional standards.
  • Act as a senior department resource for audit methodology, control frameworks, business process knowledge, emerging risks and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform follow-up of outstanding action plans to ensure reported gaps are appropriately actioned by Management.

To join our team:

  • You have 7 years or more of experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Information Technology, Compliance, or a related field, including significant experience leading complex, higher-risk or cross-functional audit and advisory engagements
  • You have a post-secondary degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Information Technology, Risk Management or a related discipline.
  • You have advanced knowledge of audit methodology, internal controls, governance frameworks, risk management practices, and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards.
  • You have strong communication and relationship management skills, including experience presenting audit results, influencing action plans, and discussing complex risk and control matters with senior leaders.
  • You have experience coaching audit professionals, reviewing audit work and supporting consistent application of audit methodology and reporting standards.
  • You have knowledge of emerging technology risks, including artificial intelligence, and experience using data analytics or audit technology tools to support audit work.

Expected salary range $91,058.00 to $141,058 +

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.​

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
