Job Type: Contract (3+ months)
Client: Fortune 500 Company
The Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading Fortune 500 organization to deploy a specialized, high-impact finance team tasked with a critical balance sheet integrity and remediation initiative. You will be joining an elite task force deployed directly to the client to ensure total accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness ahead of year-end.
This role is ideal for a highly analytical, hands-on accounting professional who thrives in complex environments. If you have a strong Big 4 audit foundation paired with in-house public company experience, and you enjoy rolling up your sleeves to solve complex accounting challenges, this is a unique opportunity to drive immediate, visible impact at a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment & Discovery: Conduct a deep-dive assessment of the client's balance sheet accounts, rigorously testing for completeness, accuracy, and compliance under UK GAAP and US GAAP.
- Hands-On Remediation: Lead the charge in fixing identified discrepancies, performing complex account reconciliations, and executing the necessary accounting work to clean up the balance sheet prior to year-end close.
- Controls Enforcement: Evaluate current financial controls and ensure the existing controllership team is properly executing and adhering to required control frameworks and standard operating procedures.
- Audit Readiness: Support internal and external audit activities by preparing bulletproof documentation, control assessments, and variance analysis.
- Process Optimization: Partner with cross-functional finance stakeholders to identify root causes of data quality issues and implement process simplifications to prevent future reporting errors.
Requirements
- Big 4 Pedigree: Minimum of 2 to 3 "busy seasons" completed at a Big 4 accounting firm as a Senior Auditor (or equivalent).
- Industry Experience: Proven in-house accounting or controllership experience working within a publicly traded company.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of UK GAAP and strong exposure to US GAAP reporting and consolidation environments.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline (CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is preferred).
- Problem Solver: Exceptional analytical skills with the hands-on ability to untangle messy data and reconstruct accurate financials.
- Communication: Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to comfortably enforce controls and processes with the in-house controllership team.
- Autonomy: Highly comfortable working independently and proactively in a fully remote, international environment.
What's in It for You
- Flexibility: 100% remote working environment based anywhere in Europe.
- Elite Exposure: Work on a high-stakes, high-visibility project within a highly respected Fortune 500 organization.
- Impactful Work: Move beyond standard month-end close and actively fix, build, and transform a global company's financial integrity.
- Collaborative Environment: Work alongside top-tier finance professionals in a targeted, specialized task force.
If you are ready to take on a complex accounting challenge, elevate financial processes, and make a tangible impact before year-end, we’d love to hear from you.
