About the company
Our client is a defense technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Write and ship production-grade C++ software that allows uncrewed vehicles to sense their environment and steer themselves. The work covers algorithm design, sensor integration and hardware-based validation, along with input into the longer-term direction of the software architecture.
What you'll do
- Design, build and release production C++ software that runs onboard uncrewed vehicles.
- Create and integrate algorithms that let a vehicle understand its surroundings, know its position, plan a path and avoid hazards.
- Support sensor fusion efforts that merge radar, camera and other inputs into a single coherent picture.
- Maintain route planners at both short and long range that turn map and sensor inputs into vehicle behavior.
- Balance accuracy, robustness, processing cost, latency and dependability when working with limited embedded compute.
- Check vehicle behavior and track down faults by combining virtual environments, field logs and data from real deployments, and write helper tools, frequently in Python, to speed up iteration.
- Help steer the architecture of the next generation of the autonomy software over a multi-year plan.
What we're looking for
- At least 5 years of experience in robotics or autonomous systems.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Advanced C++ skills and a solid grasp of the algorithms used to guide self-operating vehicles.
- A record of delivering production-quality code on physical hardware, working where software meets devices.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, sensor integration, computer vision, sensor fusion, trajectory tracking and coping with noisy or uncertain data.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging instincts.
- Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder and eligible under US export control rules.
Bonus points
- Prior work in vehicle autonomy, aerospace or related sectors.
- Experience at companies known for demanding vehicle software.
- Exposure to real-time operating systems, lightweight Linux builds or battery power management.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 210,000 to 300,000 per year
- Equity
