We are looking for a Senior Back-End (API) Engineer to join our client’s engineering team and help design, develop, and maintain core services supporting CRM and Marketing platforms.

In this role, you will work on high-impact, data-intensive systems used by real estate professionals across the United States. You will design scalable APIs and data models, optimize database performance, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with front-end engineers, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Node.js, PostgreSQL, SQL performance tuning, and scalable backend services. This is a senior, highly autonomous role for someone who can take full ownership of features from planning and design through successful production delivery..

Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, and maintain core backend services supporting CRM and Marketing platforms.
• Build advanced, scalable data models suited to the evolving needs of the real estate industry.
• Develop and maintain high-performance APIs and backend services.
• Write efficient SQL queries and optimize PostgreSQL database operations.
• Deliver high-quality features with robust unit and integration test coverage.
• Solve complex data, scalability, and performance challenges in production environments.
• Influence architectural decisions to ensure long-term maintainability and growth.
• Collaborate with front-end engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Partner with Customer Success to understand real-world user workflows and improve the platform experience.
• Clearly communicate technical decisions, implementation approaches, and architectural trade-offs.
• Take full ownership of features and projects, from planning and technical design through deployment and production support.
• Lead projects when needed and contribute to continuously improving the engineering culture.
• Stay up to date with industry developments and propose improvements to backend capabilities and product features.

Requirements:

• Deep, practical experience with JavaScript and Node.js.
• Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL, including writing and optimizing pure SQL without depending on an ORM.
• Proven experience in SQL performance tuning and database optimization.
• Solid background in designing, building, testing, and maintaining scalable backend services.
• Experience designing, building, and consuming APIs, particularly in large-scale production environments.
• Demonstrable experience with data-intensive production applications.
• Strong understanding of scalability challenges and the ability to make sound architectural decisions.
• Ability to independently lead a feature from planning through production, coordinating with relevant stakeholders when needed.
• Strong focus on backend architecture, clean code, testing, and long-term maintainability.
• Experience with RabbitMQ; an intermediate level of proficiency is expected.
• Strong hands-on experience with Redis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Creative, structured, and pragmatic approach to solving complex technical problems.
• Five to seven years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
