Senior Backend Engineer - India

Position Overview Anatta is seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will develop, customize, and optimize Shopify and Shopify Plus ecommerce experiences for ambitious brands. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Backend App development, custom app development, Liquid, modern JavaScript,Typescript, React, Node.js, Shopify APIs, and third-party integrations. You should be collaborating closely with design, project management, QA, and client teams to deliver scalable, high-performing commerce solutions. Duties and Responsibilities Build and support eCom/Shopify apps, custom functionality, and back-end services using Node.js, Remix, Shopify APIs, and Webhooks. Collaborate with designers to convert mockups into responsive, high-quality Shopify experiences. Integrate Shopify with third-party platforms such as ERP, OMS, inventory, loyalty, tax, payments, subscriptions, fraud, and fulfillment systems. Work with Shopify Admin GraphQL API, Storefront API, REST APIs, App Bridge, and Polaris. Optimize Shopify stores for performance, SEO, accessibility, user experience, and conversion. Troubleshoot and resolve front-end, back-end, API, integration, and production issues. Test and deploy features while ensuring quality, scalability, and compliance with project requirements. Collaborate with project managers, QA, architects, and client teams to translate business requirements into technical deliverables. Stay current with Shopify ecosystem updates, including Shopify Plus, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, Hydrogen, and POS capabilities. Support Shopify POS-related work when needed, including POS UI Extensions, retail workflows, and in-store integrations. Requirements 6+ years of professional software development experience. 3+ years of hands-on eCom/Shopify or Shopify Plus development experience. Proven experience as a Backend Developer with a focus on Shopify theme and app development. Strong expertise in metafields, and metaobjects. Strong experience in Typescript, SQL, Azure Cloud(service bus, functions etc), Bicep, Kubernets, Algolia, Netlify. Someone with an Independent to work on the backend side. Experience with React and modern JavaScript frameworks. Experience with Node.js, Remix, or similar back-end frameworks. Familiarity with Shopify Admin GraphQL API, Storefront API, REST APIs, Webhooks, App Bridge, and Polaris. Experience integrating Shopify with third-party applications and enterprise systems. Experience with Git, version control, pull requests, and code reviews. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Strong written and spoken English communication skills. Good documentation and collaboration skills. Preferred Skills Experience with Shopify Plus. Experience with Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions. Experience with headless Shopify development using Hydrogen, Remix, Next.js, or similar frameworks. Familiarity with GraphQL and REST API design. Experience with Shopify POS, POS UI Extensions, and retail workflows. Experience with inventory, loyalty, subscription, tax, payment, OMS, ERP, or fulfillment integrations. Experience with iPaaS, middleware, or event-driven architecture. Familiarity with observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, or Sentry. Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or similar. Experience with AWS, GCP, or equivalent cloud services. Experience with other ecommerce platforms such as Magento, BigCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Experience with Ruby, Python, PHP, or Java is a plus.
