Senior Backend Engineer, Predictive Dialer & Contact Center Platform (Remote, Long-Term)

We are a US-based lead generation company building our own outbound contact center platform from scratch: a predictive dialer, a lightweight CRM, and an SMS engine that share one brain. This replaces the commercial dialers we pay for today and will run real production call volume from day one.

You will be the lead engineer on the telephony core. This is a build role, not a maintain role.

What you will build

• Predictive dialer with configurable pacing, abandon-rate control, and per-disposition cadences
• Answering machine detection (AMD) that distinguishes voicemail from live pickup, including modern smartphone call screening
• Voicemail drop system with multi-language and lead-stage-aware message selection
• Skills-based routing for inbound calls and dialer lead distribution (language, seniority, lead stage)
• Real-time transcription and AI-assisted call summaries surfaced to agents mid-call
• Warm transfer flows with live agent availability
• SMS engine coordination so calling and texting never work against each other
• Analytics: contact rates by disposition, best time to call/text, cadence A/B testing

What we need from you

• 4+ years backend engineering (Node.js/TypeScript or Python preferred)
• Hands-on experience building or deeply extending a dialer or contact center system. This is the hard requirement. FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, Vicidial, Twilio Voice, Telnyx, or SignalWire at a serious level
• Real understanding of SIP, WebRTC, call bridging, and AMD, beyond REST API integrations
• Familiarity with US telephony compliance (TCPA, abandon rate limits, STIR/SHAKEN, DNC)
• PostgreSQL, Redis, event-driven architecture, production webhooks
• Able to work solo against a spec, communicate async, and ship weekly

Bonus points

• LLM pipelines (Whisper/Deepgram transcription, GPT/Claude summaries)
• CRM platform API experience (GoHighLevel or similar)
• Spanish-language IVR/routing support

Engagement and pay

Full-time contract, remote, paid in USD. We start with a paid one-week trial project, then move to a monthly engagement with a 12+ month roadmap.
