About the Role
Lead and grow the bankruptcy and restructuring practice at a boutique law firm serving venture and investment clients. This senior role combines your existing portable practice with firm-generated work and offers a path to equity partnership.
What You'll Do
Lead the bankruptcy and restructuring practice and build relationships across the firm.
Advise investment funds on debt-side restructurings and troubled portfolio companies.
Handle in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court workouts and restructurings.
Manage approximately 300 to 400 hours per year of firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your portable practice.
Mentor and direct a junior associate with bankruptcy experience.
Continue developing your client base and portable practice on a supportive firm platform.
What We're Looking For
15 or more years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor matters.
A portable bankruptcy and restructuring practice generating approximately $1 million to $1.5 million in annual collections.
Substantial experience with both in-court bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court workouts, including corporate restructuring and debt-side advisory work.
Demonstrated ability to originate and manage client relationships, with an entrepreneurial approach to growing a practice.
A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
Ability to lead a practice area, collaborate effectively in a boutique environment, and advise investment funds on portfolio company debt matters.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: $250,000 to $300,000, with additional compensation upside and a path to equity partnership. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid, based in New York, New York, with approximately three days per week in the office.
