About the Role
Lead and grow the bankruptcy and restructuring practice at a boutique legal services firm serving venture capital and investment fund clients. This senior role combines an established portable practice with firm-generated work and offers a path to equity partnership.
What You'll Do
Lead the bankruptcy and restructuring practice as its senior department head.
Advise investment funds on troubled portfolio companies, including debt-side restructurings and workouts.
Handle in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings.
Manage approximately 300 to 400 hours each year of firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your own practice.
Mentor and direct a junior associate, collaborate with colleagues serving existing clients, and grow your practice.
What We're Looking For
Typically 15 or more years of bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor experience.
Substantial experience with both in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court workouts and restructurings.
Expertise advising on corporate restructurings and debt-side matters, including for investment funds with troubled portfolio companies.
An established portable practice, a record of originating and managing client relationships, and interest in continuing to grow your business.
Ability to lead a practice, work collaboratively in a boutique setting, and maintain long-term professional relationships.
J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
Prior experience at a large law firm is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: $250,000 to $300,000. The role offers a path to equity partnership. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in New York, New York, with an expectation of working from the office approximately three days per week.
