Senior Bankruptcy Attorney

About the Role

A venture-focused boutique law firm is seeking a Senior Bankruptcy Attorney to lead and grow its bankruptcy and restructuring practice. You will advise investment funds on troubled portfolio companies while building your own practice on a supportive platform.

What You'll Do

• Lead the firm's bankruptcy and restructuring practice and guide its continued growth.

• Advise investment funds on debt-side restructurings and workouts involving troubled portfolio companies.

• Handle both in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings.

• Work with the firm's attorneys on existing client matters and handle an estimated 300 to 400 hours of firm-generated bankruptcy work annually.

• Mentor and direct a junior associate with a bankruptcy background.

• Grow and manage your portable practice and client relationships.

What We're Looking For

• 10 to 25 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor matters, including in-court and out-of-court work.

• A substantial portable bankruptcy or restructuring practice, with a demonstrated ability to originate and manage client relationships.

• Experience advising investment funds on debt involving troubled portfolio companies.

• A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.

• Department leadership experience, an entrepreneurial mindset, and interest in growing a practice in a collaborative boutique setting.

• Big law experience is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $250,000 to $300,000. The role offers a potential path to equity partnership. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid role based in New York, New York, with an expectation of working from the office approximately three days per week.
