The Senior Bid Manager is an India-based role supporting UK markets, leading the planning, management and delivery of complex and business-critical bids while supporting opportunities across the wider work winning portfolio as required.

Working in partnership with business leaders, Capture Managers, Client Account Managers and technical teams, the Senior Bid Manager is responsible for ensuring bids are delivered on time, fully compliant with client requirements and aligned with agreed win strategies.

The role provides hands-on leadership throughout the bid lifecycle, coordinating multidisciplinary contributors, managing review processes and ensuring bids are client-focused, competitive and of the highest quality.

In addition to bid leadership responsibilities, the Senior Bid Manager contributes to the development of the India-based Work Winning team through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing and day-to-day leadership, with greater people leadership responsibilities expected as the team expands.

Key Responsibilities

Bid Leadership and Management

  • Lead the end-to-end management and delivery of complex bids.
  • Develop and manage bid programmes, delivery plans, review programmes and bid activities.
  • Ensure all submissions are compliant with client requirements and internal governance processes (including full adherence to ECP playbook for ECP and Tier 2 opportunities),.
  • Coordinate and motivate technical, commercial, legal, quality and work winning contributors throughout the bid lifecycle.
  • Lead answer planning activities and ensure clear direction is provided to contributors.
  • Manage content development (including writing, formatting and graphics), reviews, approvals and final submission production.
  • Maintain version control and manage document workflows throughout the bid lifecycle.
  • Drive quality throughout the submission process through structured review cycles and continuous challenge.
  • Monitor bid progress, identify risks and dependencies, and implement mitigation actions.
  • Support interview preparation, presentation coaching and clarification responses where required.
  • Conduct lessons learned reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Pursuit Strategy Support

  • Work with Capture Managers and business leaders to support pursuit planning and win strategy development.
  • Facilitate workshops focused on win themes, answer planning, reviews and lessons learned.
  • Help teams develop compelling value propositions and client-focused messaging.
  • Support commercial and technical workstreams to ensure coherent and differentiated submissions.
  • Maintain alignment between pursuit strategy and bid content.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Act as a senior member of the India-based Work Winning team supporting UK markets.
  • Coach and mentor Bid Managers, Bid Coordinators and developing work winning professionals.
  • Support onboarding and integration of new team members.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Share best practices, lessons learned and work winning knowledge across the team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support capability-building initiatives led by Associate Bid Directors and UK leadership.
  • Take on increasing people leadership responsibilities as the India-based team expands.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Build effective working relationships with UK business leaders, technical teams and pursuit stakeholders.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication on bid progress, risks and actions.
  • Facilitate alignment across geographically dispersed pursuit teams.
  • Act as a trusted work winning partner, supporting teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in bid management, proposal management, or related work-winning functions
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior or lead bid management role, demonstrating hands-on leadership of complex, multi-stakeholder pursuits
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end bid lifecycles for business-critical opportunities, from capture through submission and post-bid activities
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across geographies, including technical, commercial, legal and quality contributors
  • Experience developing and implementing bid strategies, win themes and value propositions aligned with client requirements
  • Track record of delivering compliant, high-quality submissions within tight deadlines

  • Strong project management discipline with the ability to coordinate complex bid activities and maintain momentum across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Work, Powerpoint and Adobe InDesign.
