Show job description

Help us bring a major brand transition to life. And yes, we promise there's more to it than changing a logo on 400 PowerPoint slides. Although, fair warning, there may be a few of those too.

We're looking for a talented, hands-on Senior Brand Designer to join our Marketing team in New Zealand.

Over the next 12 months, you'll play an important role in our transition from First Focus to Integris, helping turn global brand guidelines into something clear, consistent and genuinely useful across our local business.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your days simply reviewing other people's designs and offering thoughtful commentary about font choices. We need someone who enjoys getting stuck in, solving design challenges and delivering beautiful, practical work themselves.

From brand applications and sales presentations to editable templates, campaign graphics and YouTube thumbnails, you'll help shape how our evolving brand looks, feels and communicates.

If you love great design, have a healthy appreciation for typography and believe PowerPoint templates should actually work when someone else opens them, we should probably talk.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, New Zealand.

A bit about us

Founded in 2003, First Focus helps organisations across Australia and New Zealand manage, secure and get more from their technology.

We're an established technology services business with a collaborative team, ambitious plans and a genuine commitment to doing things well.

Our Marketing team supports everything from campaigns and digital content to sales collateral, presentations, reports, events and internal communications.

We're now preparing for an exciting new chapter as we transition to the Integris brand.

It's a significant piece of work, and we're looking for someone who can help us get the details right without turning every design decision into a three-week committee meeting.

What you'll be doing

You'll have a meaningful role in bringing our new brand to life, while continuing to deliver the everyday design work that keeps our Marketing team moving.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Help roll out the Integris brand locally, following global brand guidelines.
  • Identify and prioritise materials that need updating, ensuring consistent branding.
  • Create professional, easy-to-edit PowerPoint and Word templates.
  • Design B2B presentations, proposals, case studies, reports and marketing materials.
  • Produce website graphics, social media content, event materials and YouTube thumbnails.
  • Turn complex information into clear, engaging visuals.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand briefs, explain design choices and deliver quality work.
  • Keep design files and reusable assets organised across digital and print.

We're big believers in Keep it Simple, one of our First Focus values. Not because we dislike complexity, but because making complicated things clear and usable takes real skill.

And that's exactly what this role is about.

Using AI well

We're happy for you to use generative AI to explore ideas and work smarter. What matters is your own creativity and judgement in turning those ideas into polished, editable designs. We'd love to understand your process and what you've personally contributed.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone with strong creative judgement, excellent technical skills and the confidence to take ownership of their work.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Strong design skills in typography, layout, branding and visual communication, backed by a solid portfolio.
  • Hands-on experience delivering a brand rollout or transition, including applying guidelines and solving challenges.
  • Ability to deliver both major creative projects and everyday design work.
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud skills and experience creating professional, editable files.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Word template design skills.
  • Experience designing for B2B audiences and making complex information easy to understand.
  • Good judgement, clear communication and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Whether you've worked in an agency, in-house or independently, what matters is the quality of your work and what you've personally delivered. No specific qualification or number of years of experience is required.

Why First Focus?

This is an opportunity to join an established Marketing team and work across a genuinely broad range of creative projects.

You won't be designing for a revolving door of unrelated clients. You'll be working on our brand, learning it properly and helping us communicate more clearly and creatively as the business grows.

One of the First Focus values that matters particularly here is Live Curiously.

We like people who ask why, explore better ways of doing things and are willing to challenge the obvious solution when there’s a more interesting one available. That applies rather nicely to design, and probably explains why we don’t want someone whose response to every brief is “logo top-left?”

The good stuff

Alongside a competitive salary package plus KiwiSaver, you'll get:

  • Hybrid working that supports genuine work-life balance.
  • Free access to Uprise, including confidential 1:1 coaching with qualified psychologists and counsellors.
  • Our Never Stop Growing commitment, including 10 paid training days each year and certification support (conditions apply).
  • Regular internal learning sessions and access to an extensive learning library.
  • Our FastTrack mentoring program to support your professional development.
  • Employee and client referral bonuses.
  • Regular social events and a genuinely supportive team culture.
  • The chance to work with a Marketing team where good ideas are welcomed, collaboration is expected, and hopefully nobody asks you to use Comic Sans ironically. Or otherwise.

How to apply

We'd love to see your CV and portfolio.

In particular, please include examples of:

  • A brand rollout or transition you've personally contributed to, explaining your responsibilities, design decisions, challenges and final deliverables.
  • Everyday design work, including presentations, documents, campaigns, digital content and other practical brand applications.
  • Editable PowerPoint or Word templates, where possible, demonstrating how you've made good design accessible and usable for others.

If you've worked on collaborative projects, please make your personal contribution clear.

We want to understand how you think, the decisions you make and the quality of the work you actually delivered.

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd love to hear from you.

Bring your portfolio, your design judgement and your appreciation for a properly aligned text box. We'll bring the brand transition.
