Job Title: Senior Business Analyst Job Description The Senior Business Analyst will play a key role in documenting, refining, and maturing business processes for the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship and Joint Support Ship In-Service Support (AJISS) program. This role focuses on applying LEAN methodologies and Value Stream Mapping to assess and improve enterprise process maturity, identify gaps and pain points, and develop clear value propositions that support change initiatives. The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate closely with internal teams and customers to adapt existing processes to new information technology offerings and drive innovation across the enterprise. Responsibilities Lead the Business Analysis team within the AJISS program, taking ownership of process definition, documentation, and maturity. Collaborate on the definition and refinement of business processes by conducting end-user interviews, workshops, and analysis of pain points within AJISS and within DND/RCN. Apply LEAN techniques, including Value Stream Mapping, to assess enterprise process maturity and identify opportunities for improvement. Formulate clear and compelling value propositions in preparation for engagements with sponsors and customers, including benefits, value, and financial considerations. Deliver detailed business and system requirements based on workshops, stakeholder input, and pain points gathered within AJISS or in collaboration with the customer. Liaise with the AJISS team to ensure consistency and coherence in messaging and communication to the AJISS customer. Contribute to the development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) using the approved AJISS template, including describing the proposed change, outlining benefits, providing a cost breakdown, and articulating the value proposition. Recommend approaches to promote a collaborative and innovative culture within DND/RCN and across the AJISS enterprise. Work with the AJISS team and Change Manager to adapt existing processes to align with updated information technology offerings and new tools. Engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization to gather requirements, build consensus, and support successful implementation of process changes. Develop strong working relationships across the business through excellent customer service and effective communication. Essential Skills University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline. 10+ years of experience documenting business processes and system requirements. Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience within the last 10 years leading Business Analysis activities or workshops in a large-scale project. Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with a track record of successful outcomes. Experience in business or enterprise architecture. Experience in developing business strategies. Experience working in a Navy or Aviation maintenance context. Practical experience in design thinking and facilitating design workshops. Practical experience in LEAN methodologies, including business process analysis and business process mapping. Strong business strategy and value proposition formulation skills. Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn. Capability to develop strong relationships across the business through excellent customer service. Additional Skills & Qualifications Well versed in LEAN methodology (nice to have). Experience promoting collaborative and innovative cultures across complex enterprises. Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging sponsors and customers. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and multi-stakeholder environments. Work Environment This is a hybrid role based in either Victoria or Halifax, combining on-site and remote work. The position requires three days on-site and two days working remotely each week. The work schedule follows a standard workweek with core hours from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST, with flexibility outside of those core hours to accommodate business and personal needs. The environment involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a complex naval and aviation maintenance context, working with process documentation tools, LEAN and Value Stream Mapping techniques, and evolving information technology solutions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Victoria, BC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
