About the Role
The Senior Business Analyst is a senior business analysis specialist within Technology and a key member of a cross-functional product engineering team. The role shapes solutions to complex business challenges, translates strategic objectives into deliverable outcomes, and helps teams make effective use of the existing systems estate and organisational capabilities.
Working across business and technology domains, the role operates where requirements may be unclear, stakeholder priorities compete, and significant organisational, process, regulatory and technology change is underway. The Senior Business Analyst leads discovery, creates clarity, challenges assumptions and supports evidence-based decisions that deliver meaningful business and client outcomes.
The role requires strong analytical capability, excellent stakeholder management and the ability to influence at all levels. It also contributes to high standards of business analysis practice, collaboration, service excellence and continuous improvement across product portfolios.
What you’ll be responsible for
Business Analysis and Discovery
- Lead analysis of complex business problems spanning multiple teams, processes and systems.
- Define and validate business outcomes, opportunities, success measures and the evidence needed to demonstrate value.
- Lead workshops, discovery sessions and structured problem-solving with senior stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Challenge existing processes, assumptions and proposed solutions to identify more effective options.
- Develop current-state and future-state operating models, process maps, capability assessments and other analysis artefacts.
- Assess how the existing systems estate and organisational capabilities can be used, adapted or improved.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear, actionable and testable delivery outcomes.
Product and Delivery Leadership
- Partner with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Architects and design specialists to shape product direction and provide a holistic approach to product change.
- Lead requirements discovery, analysis, validation and refinement throughout the product delivery lifecycle.
- Define epics, user stories, business rules, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation to an appropriate level of detail.
- Ensure complex business, client and regulatory requirements are understood, represented and traceable through delivery.
- Support product prioritisation by balancing business value, risk, client outcomes, technical constraints and dependencies.
- Apply analysis techniques across discovery, inception, delivery and iterative product improvement.
- Support and embed agile ways of working that accelerate the pace and value of delivery.
Stakeholder Management and Influence
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior business, Product and Technology stakeholders.
- Build alignment across groups with differing objectives, perspectives and priorities.
- Manage competing priorities and facilitate timely, transparent decision-making.
- Present recommendations, options, evidence and trade-offs clearly to leadership audiences.
- Influence outcomes through constructive challenge, robust analysis and clear communication.
- Negotiate successful outcomes while maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships.
Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving
- Break down complex and ambiguous problems into manageable components.
- Identify risks, assumptions, constraints, interdependencies and decision points early.
- Develop practical recommendations supported by data, evidence and analysis.
- Identify opportunities for synergy, efficiency and innovation across product portfolios.
- Ensure proposed solutions align with broader business and Technology strategy.
Practice Leadership and Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements to analysis practices, team effectiveness and delivery processes.
- Coach, motivate and support less experienced analysts and team members on business analysis activities.
- Play a leading role in the Analysis Community of Practice and help evolve standards, principles, tooling and ways of working across product portfolios.
- Promote a culture of high performance, innovation, service excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the evolution of product operating models and business design capability.

Essential
- Significant experience as a Business Analyst within complex technology delivery environments.
- A proven record of delivering large-scale business and technology change in an agile product delivery model.
- Experience of complex transformation programmes and product delivery initiatives.
- Strong facilitation and senior stakeholder engagement experience.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments.
- Experience managing requirements across multiple teams, processes, systems and stakeholder groups.
- Experience working closely with engineering, architecture, Product and design teams.
- Experience supporting iterative product change and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Financial services experience.
- Experience in a regulated environment.
- Experience supporting CRM, digital platform or customer-facing product delivery.
- Salesforce experience.
