About the role
BCNSW is seeking a Senior Business Analyst (Data Migration & Salesforce) to support a major Salesforce-led transformation program within a NSW Government regulatory environment.
The role will provide data analysis leadership for all data migration activities, ensuring legacy data is accurately analysed, cleansed, transformed, mapped, validated, and migrated to the future-state Salesforce platform. Working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and implementation partners, the role will drive data readiness and support delivery of one of the program's most critical workstreams.
This is a Data Analyst role with hands-on experience in data migration. The successful candidate will combine strong business analysis capabilities with hands-on experience in data migration planning, data quality assessment, source-to-target mapping, and Salesforce data migration activities. The role will ensure data migration requirements are understood, documented, governed, and successfully transitioned into delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead data discovery, assessment, and analysis activities across multiple legacy systems and data sources.
- Elicit, document, and validate business and data migration requirements with business stakeholders and SMEs.
- Develop and maintain source-to-target mapping documents, data dictionaries, transformation rules, migration specifications, and reconciliation artefacts.
- Analyse legacy data structures and define mapping approaches to Salesforce objects, fields, and relationships.
- Identify data quality issues and work with business stakeholders to establish remediation and cleansing strategies.
- Collaborate with Salesforce architects, implementation partners, and technical teams to support migration design and delivery activities.
- Support data governance, retention, archival, privacy, and compliance requirements throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Develop migration readiness assessments, migration plans, cutover activities, and deployment support processes.
- Support migration testing, dress rehearsals, defect management, data validation, and post-migration reconciliation activities.
- Produce reporting, analysis, and management information to support program governance, decision-making, and risk management.
- Identify and escalate migration-related risks, dependencies, and constraints in a timely manner.
- Work closely with business SMEs, vendors, and project teams to ensure successful delivery of migration outcomes.
Required skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience delivering data migration workstreams as part of large-scale digital transformation programs.
- Strong business analysis experience, including requirements elicitation, process analysis, stakeholder engagement, and documentation.
- Hands-on experience in data profiling, cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and migration planning.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining source-to-target mappings, migration specifications, data dictionaries, business rules, and data quality artefacts.
- Experience analysing and working with complex datasets from multiple source systems.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce data models, object relationships, field mapping, data dependencies, and migration impacts.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce Data Loader and data migration or ETL tools such as MuleSoft, Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
- Experience using SQL and database query tools to extract, analyse, validate, and reconcile data.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including large dataset analysis, reconciliation, reporting, lookup functions, and pivot tables.
- Experience supporting migration testing, cutover planning, post-migration validation, and reconciliation activities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience delivering Salesforce implementation or transformation programs.
- Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS) preferred but not mandatory
- Experience within government, regulatory, compliance, enforcement, or public-sector environments preferred
- Experience working with data migration tools and frameworks in large enterprise environments required
- Relevant Salesforce, Business Analysis, Data Management, or related professional certifications.
Role Clarification
This is a Senior Business Analyst role with a strong focus on data migration, data quality, and Salesforce data readiness. The role is responsible for defining, analysing, governing, and supporting migration activities from business discovery through to implementation and post-go-live validation.
The role does not perform solution development or Salesforce configuration activities, which will be delivered by the implementation partner. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that migration requirements, mappings, data quality activities, testing, and reconciliation processes are effectively planned and executed to support a successful Salesforce implementation.
Success Measures
- Successful profiling, cleansing, and preparation of legacy data for migration.
- Delivery of complete and accurate source-to-target mappings and migration artefacts.
- Reduction of data quality risks impacting implementation and operational readiness.
- Successful completion of migration testing, validation, and reconciliation activities.
- High-quality migration of data to Salesforce with minimal business disruption.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and alignment across business, technical, and vendor teams.
When applying
Provide a cover letter (maximum 2 pages) and resume (maximum 5 pages) that outline your experience and how you meet the role's key capabilities.
