Senior C and C++ Embedded Developer

We are seeking a Senior C and C++ Embedded Developer to implement, integrate, and maintain embedded PPC software, working closely with Simulink control models to translate control logic into reliable, running software for real-time and hardware-connected systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C++ software for PPC control functions and related embedded components
• Participate across the software lifecycle, including clarifying requirements, contributing to design and architecture, implementing features, testing changes, and supporting releases and maintenance
• Integrate control functionality with PPC runtime components, controller interfaces, measurements, feedback signals, and plant equipment as assigned
• Investigate functional and performance issues, including signal handling, scan-cycle behavior, latency, and timing constraints where they apply to the target system
• Review control-model behavior and interfaces with Simulink developers to resolve differences between model expectations and embedded implementation
• Implement maintainable, testable changes with appropriate diagnostics, fault handling, and error handling for the target environment
• Develop or extend unit and integration tests, and work with QA to verify behavior on supported hardware or test platforms
• Contribute to code reviews, requirements clarification, technical design, verification, validation, and release preparation
• Work with QA and DevOps specialists to make changes buildable, testable, and traceable through the delivery workflow

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional C++ development experience in embedded, real-time, or otherwise resource-constrained software
• Expertise in software engineering fundamentals, including debugging, modular design, code review, and version control
• Experience delivering software across design, implementation, test, and maintenance, ideally for products with close hardware/software interaction
• Experience integrating software with hardware, control systems, industrial devices, or external software interfaces
• Skills in reasoning about timing, data flow, fault handling, and observable system behavior
• Working knowledge of Simulink sufficient to understand control diagrams, signals, parameters, and simulation results
• Capability to collaborate across software, controls, systems, and test disciplines

Nice to have

• Background in embedded control products, power systems, renewable generation, PPCs, converters, energy storage, or industrial automation
• Experience in integration of model-based design or generated code with C++ software
• Familiarity with unit-testing frameworks, automated integration tests, continuous integration, or acceptance testing
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems, industrial communications, field interfaces, diagnostics, logging, or controller-to-controller integration
• Experience in automated unit, integration, simulation, or hardware/software-in-the-loop testing
• Familiarity with active/reactive power, voltage/frequency control, dispatch, or grid-support functions
