LJB Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Senior CAD/BIM Designer role to support the design and delivery of complex tunnel and underground infrastructure projects. This position will provide advanced CAD and BIM expertise throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with engineers and project managers to develop accurate, constructible design documents and models. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience and will possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. Compensation: $104,000 - $124,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

SENIOR CAD / BIM DESIGNER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD/BIM models, plans, profiles, sections, details, and construction documents for complex tunnel and underground infrastructure projects.
  • Produce and modify design drawings and models in accordance with project requirements, applicable standards, and company standards.
  • Support the design of tunnels, shafts, underground structures, stations, portals, utilities, temporary works, and associated civil infrastructure.
  • Work closely with engineers to translate engineering concepts and calculations into accurate, detailed design drawings and models.
  • Coordinate CAD and BIM information across multiple disciplines and identify potential conflicts, inconsistencies, and constructability issues.
  • Participate in BIM coordination and model reviews, including clash detection, model federation, and resolution of coordination issues.
  • Prepare drawing sets for design submissions, permitting, bidding, and construction, ensuring drawings are complete, accurate, and consistent.
  • Perform detailed quality control reviews of drawings and models and ensure compliance with established project and company standards.
  • Manage and maintain drawing files, models, reference files, sheet sets, and other project documentation in accordance with established document-control procedures.
  • Assist with development and implementation of project-specific CAD/BIM standards, templates, libraries, families, and workflows.
  • Work with project managers and discipline leads to establish efficient production workflows, identify technical challenges, and develop solutions.
  • Anticipate technical and coordination issues before they affect project delivery.
  • Help establish efficient and consistent CAD/BIM production practices.
  • Serve as a resource to engineers, designers, and less-experienced CAD/BIM staff.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the firm's digital design and documentation processes.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and quality on technically complex projects.

SENIOR CAD / BIM DESIGNER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, technical degree, or relevant technical certification is preferred but may be substituted with equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible CAD/BIM experience, preferably supporting major civil infrastructure, transportation, structural, or tunnel projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following software programs:
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
    • MicroStation
    • Civil 3D
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex engineering drawings and/or 3D models with limited supervision.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing practices, drafting standards, plan production, and design documentation.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering or design environment.
  • Strong understanding of CAD/BIM coordination, file management, and quality-control practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, sketches, and technical documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
