Role Overview
An opportunity for a Senior Character Concept Artist to create high-quality, stylised character artwork, producing distinctive designs that align with an established visual identity.
This is an initial six-month contract with the potential to extend for multiple years. The role is fully remote, with a few office visits each year. Candidates should ideally be based in a country with working hours close to Finland.
Character Concept Art
- Create high-quality, stylised character concepts that align closely with established art direction, proportions, shapes, colours and visual language.
- Create distinctive, readable character designs that feel appropriate to the game's world, tone and existing character roster.
Art Style & Visual Development
- Demonstrate a portfolio with clear examples of artwork that matches a playful, exaggerated and polished aesthetic.
- Work within the established visual identity, as a strong general concept art portfolio alone may not be enough if the style is significantly different.
Creative Delivery & Iteration
- Work efficiently to deliver concepts and iterations at pace, responding quickly to feedback and evolving creative requirements.
- Communicate closely with the internal team, discussing ideas, responding to feedback and refining concepts through an iterative process.
- Work independently, manage time effectively and deliver consistently within a contract-based environment.
Requirements
- Experienced Character Concept Artist with a strong track record of producing stylised artwork that closely matches the required aesthetic.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating relevant style matches.
- Comfortable working quickly, taking feedback directly and collaborating with an established creative team.
- Comfortable managing workload, communicating progress, responding to feedback and delivering work to agreed timelines.
- Previous freelance or contract experience would be valuable.
- Familiarity with the relevant game's gameplay mechanics, character families, personality, tone of voice and overall art direction is a significant advantage.
- Comfortable completing a practical art test as part of the interview process.
