About the role
As part of Gas Markets, Value Chain and Commercial, this role provides finance, contractual and commercial support to the VP Gas Markets and Voluntary Carbon. You will bring financial discipline, commercial insight and challenge to a complex international portfolio, supporting planning, performance, portfolio choices and strategic decision-making. The role also partners with heads of country and regional teams on priority markets, including Brazil, helping connect local commercial activity with robust financial analysis, governance and bp’s wider growth priorities.

You will work closely with the VP Gas Markets and Voluntary Carbon, heads of country, regional commercial teams and colleagues across finance, commercial, legal, tax and risk. You will also engage with external parties, including banks, partners and JV counterparties, supporting governance, commercial alignment and decision-making. The role sits in an international, commercially focused team that works across diverse markets and partnerships, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, clear decision support and continuous improvement.

What you will deliver

• Trusted finance, modelling and commercial insight for the VP Gas Markets and Voluntary Carbon, translating business priorities into robust plans, recommendations and decisions.
• High-quality support for JV and non-operated venture activity, including governance, shareholder reporting, budget review, performance challenge and alignment with bp requirements.
• Robust financial models and analysis to support JV decisions, strategy choices, investment cases, portfolio management and commercial opportunities.
• Clear financial planning, performance insight and commercial support for heads of country and regional leaders in priority markets, including Brazil.
• Practical interpretation of contractual and commercial terms, including pricing, indexation, payment, liability, governance and termination provisions, to assess financial exposure and support decision-making.
• Effective quarterly planning and performance management for the portfolio, including outlooks, variance analysis, performance tracking and management reporting.
• Well-structured delivery of finance-led and cross-functional initiatives, with work-plans, coordinated inputs and measured actions.
• Stronger finance processes, controls and ways of working that improve efficiency, reduce risk and support better performance management.
  

What you will need to be successful (required experience and qualifications)

• Knowledge of gas & LNG markets.
• Finance experience in commodity trading, energy, infrastructure or another sophisticated commercial environment.
• Experience with JVs, non-operated ventures, shareholder governance or partnership structures, ideally across international markets.
• Strong understanding of project finance, including financing structures, cash flow drivers, debt sizing, lender requirements, risk allocation and returns analysis.
• Advanced financial modelling skills, including building, reviewing and challenging models for JV, strategy, investment and portfolio decisions.
• Strong understanding of contractual and commercial terms, including financial implications, value drivers, obligations and risk exposure.
• Experience supporting country heads, regional leaders or international teams, ideally in priority markets such as Brazil.
• Strong project management, planning and performance capability, including work plan development, forecasting, reporting and variance analysis.
• Strong commercial awareness, analytical judgement, interested party management and ability to influence and negotiate across finance, commercial, legal, tax and risk.
• Collaborative, curious and organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver independently in an ambiguous and evolving environment.
• Additional languages preferred: Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin
