Job Summary
The Senior Finance and Accounting Associate supports financial close and reporting, revenue accounting, cost and inventory accounting, financial planning and analysis, accounts receivable, internal controls, external audits, and corporate reporting to the company’s headquarters in Taiwan.
This position works closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality Services, Research & Development, Commercial Operations, Customer Service, and Finance. The Senior Finance and Accounting Associate is responsible for ensuring that financial results are accurate, reporting obligations are completed on time, audit requirements are fulfilled, and business activities are appropriately reflected in the company’s financial records.

Financial Close and Reporting
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and management reports.
- Analyze income statement and balance sheet activity, investigate unusual or unexpected fluctuations, and coordinate the resolution of identified issues.
- Prepare budget-to-actual, forecast-to-actual, and period-over-period variance analyses.
- Develop clear financial commentary explaining revenue, gross profit, cost of sales, operating expenses, working capital, and other significant business drivers.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and established company accounting policies.
- Support financial statement preparation and ensure assigned close activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready documentation for journal entries, account reconciliations, accounting estimates, and other financial reporting activities.
- Identify close-process issues and recommend improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, internal controls, and reporting quality.
- Prepare and submit recurring financial reports, schedules, account analyses, forecasts, and supporting documentation to the company’s headquarters in Taiwan.
- Respond to financial, accounting, audit, and data requests from headquarters in a timely and well-documented manner.
- Support corporate reporting initiatives, finance-system implementations, process improvements, and data-alignment projects involving the U.S. business and Taiwan headquarters.
Revenue Accounting
- Support revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606, including the accounting for customer arrangements, revenue accruals, deferred revenue, contract-related balances, and period-end cutoff.
- Assist with customer invoicing, credit tracking, accounts receivable aging, cash application, and resolution of customer account discrepancies.
- Coordinate financial information received from third-party logistics providers, wholesalers, distributors, and other external commercial partners.
- Develop clear explanations of revenue performance for Finance leadership and corporate headquarters.
Cost and Inventory Accounting
- Maintain and analyze standard costs for existing products, new product introductions, manufacturing changes, and product transfers.
- Support the annual standard-cost-setting process in coordination with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and Finance.
- Prepare and analyze purchase price, material usage, labor, overhead, absorption, and other manufacturing variances.
- Support inventory valuation, excess and obsolete inventory reserves, scrap analysis, and inventory-related account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly cost-of-sales journal entries, including adjustments for overhead absorption, inventory reserves, manufacturing variances, and other production-related accounting matters.
- Coordinate physical inventory and cycle-count activities and reconcile identified differences to inventory records and the general ledger.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and technical teams to assess inventory movements, production performance, cost drivers, and reserve requirements.
- Prepare gross-margin and cost-of-goods-sold analyses for Finance and operational leadership.
- Support the accounting for product transfers, manufacturing changes, technical activities, and other operational initiatives affecting inventory or cost of sales.
Financial Planning and Business Analysis
- Support the annual budget, long-range planning, and rolling forecast processes.
- Develop revenue, gross-to-net, cost-of-sales, operating expense, working capital, and capital expenditure forecasts.
- Conduct monthly financial reviews with functional and operational leaders to evaluate performance against budget, forecast, and prior-period results.
- Build financial models and scenario analyses to support commercial initiatives, operational decisions, capital investments, process changes, and business planning.
- Evaluate capital expenditure requests using financial measures such as net present value, payback period, and return on investment.
- Translate complex financial and operational information into concise, decision-oriented presentations for management.
- Identify underlying business drivers and recommend actions to improve financial performance, forecast accuracy, working capital, and process efficiency.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders to ensure that forecasts reflect current commercial and operational assumptions.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement
- Perform assigned SOX controls and maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready supporting documentation.
- Prepare and update process narratives, control documentation, accounting procedures, and desk-level work instructions.
- Support finance-system implementations, data migrations, business integrations, and changes involving ERP systems, commercial service providers, or reporting platforms.
- Identify opportunities to standardize accounting processes, reduce manual activities, improve data quality, and strengthen reporting controls.
- Develop sustainable close procedures and reconciliation processes when new products, service providers, systems, or business arrangements are introduced.
- Monitor compliance with established accounting policies, close procedures, approval requirements, and documentation standards.
- Provide financial process training and guidance to Finance and non-Finance stakeholders, as appropriate.
External Audit Coordination and Audit Procedures
- Serve as a key day-to-day contact for external auditors, coordinating audit communications, information requests, meetings, walkthroughs, and follow-up activities.
- Prepare audit schedules, account reconciliations, rollforwards, supporting calculations, transaction documentation, and other requested audit evidence.
- Coordinate audit requests across Finance and other business functions, communicate responsibilities, and monitor open items through completion.
- Facilitate walkthroughs of significant accounting processes and controls, including revenue recognition, gross-to-net reserves, inventory, standard costing, accounts receivable, financial close, intercompany accounting, and corporate reporting.
- Assist with audit sample selection, retrieve supporting records, and resolve exceptions or follow-up questions identified during testing.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready files and a clear audit trail for significant estimates, judgments, reconciliations, and accounting conclusions.

Minimum Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- 5 to 7 years' experience in a process costing industry (preferably pharmaceutical) with experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of standard cost, budgeting, financial accounting, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition systems.
- Experience with accounts receivable processes, including customer invoicing, customer account reconciliations, collections support, cash application, and month-end accounts receivable close activities.
- Experience supporting revenue recognition processes, including revenue accruals, deferred revenue analysis, contract or purchase order review, revenue account reconciliations, and compliance with company accounting policies.
- Experience using Excel and SAP, or comparable ERP/accounting systems, preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt and prioritize competing projects.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Salary Range: 108000-140000
